You can choose a jedi from Obi-Wan (who is very fast, athletic and strong but has a weak Saber Dash force along with others), Mace Windu (who is very strong and has an ace Saber Shield force as well as other wicked ones), Qui-Gon Jinn (who is slow and weak but has a strong Energy Ring force and can even heal himself), Plo Koon (who is even slower than Qui-Gon but is strong and has the same long-range force as Darth Maul) and Adi Gallia (who is extremely quick and athletic but has awful force powers). Each of these characters have their own advantages and disadvantages, along with different 'specials' ranging from thermal detonators to Plo Koon's Stim Pack which sets him on fire. You can also play as Darth Maul to tear his own Trade Federation to pieces.
The game in itself has absolutely incredible lastability - 10 levels which may not sound much, but there is everything from Episode 1 and more including Coruscant, Swamps of Naboo and even one where you can zip around riding a STAP! On level 10 there is Darth Maul to slice in half and a very tough level to go with it. There are loads of enemies, ranging from Trade Federation droids to mercenaries and tusken raiders on Tatooine. Once you complete the game you will unlock a secret feature (such as Queen Amidala, Captain Panaka and other secret levels) and you will want to do it again and again until you have slashed every droid, blown up every machine and used unlocked every force power.Read more ›
Like most games it takes a bit of time to get used to the controls and can be frustrating when first playing it. But once you master the jumps and moves it becomes very enjoyable!!
The levels are very inventive and well thought out. After each level you get special combo moves, but it is optional wether you want to use them. The handling of the characters is good and the range of moves is also good. The people who are critizing it probably have not learnt to play it!!!
The graphics look a bit dated compared to the newer stuff, but it is a must for a starwars fan!!
The only critisim is the Plo Kloon character is too slow and is impossible to beat DarthMaul on level 10!! I have been playing this game on and off for a year and would recommend it!!!!!!!
Though there are few technical glitches it still adds up to one awesome gaming experience. Though I have bought other games after that I have never been so immersed in one game as i have been with this.
The game can be great fun on the one hand but also incredibly frustrating on the other. On the plus side, the characters have the ability to learn a range of nifty new attacks and force powers. Furthermore by beating the game with different characters allows the unlocking of secret characters (i.e Darth Maul) and additional levels.
The sound, lifted straight from the movie is also very good.
On the downside, the characters' animation is often jittery, indeed the graphics in general are not the best thing about the game. The controls could certainly be better (some of combinations which your characters 'learns' are nigh-on-impossible to execute).
My main gripe is with unhelpful camera angles. I assure you that players will die far more times through falling than actually fighting. Jumping itself can be hard to perform thanks to slightly dodgy controls or because the camera angle can be very unhelpful. At times one cannot execute a jump the with any real conviction - leaps of pure faith are not uncommon. Death from rather innoculous looking hights is also fairly annoying as well.
Still the game does have its moments. Your ememies appear in a variety of forms from Battledroids, Tusken Warriors, Mercanaries through to Darth Maul himself.
Attempts have been made to vary the game play, for example, you get the opportunity to make use of some Trade Federation vehicles. Another plus is the availability of a two player mode. This is fun, but again can be problematic due to unhelpful camera angles which means that jumping has to be a closely co-ordinated affair.
All in all I would just about recommend the game to players in general. I'm sure that Star Wars fans would appreciate it more than most.
I would rate the level of difficulty as medium.
Too many good things to mention but here's a couple: the force moves, Mace making his light saber move all over his body so fast i dropped my controller, reflecting droid shots off your saber and sending droids flying using the force.
All in all a great game and at a great price. Thouroughly reccommened!
