I adored the previous Battlefront titles, and could not have been more excited for this game. Yet here I am very, very disappointed. The reasons why are pretty simple, a lack of content. Battlefront 2 included 4 factions with unique troops, loads of locations, an ok campaign mode and galactic conquest. This new version offers 2 factions, four planets and no meaningful single player. The multiplayer is fun, but there are only so many times one can play the same map on Hoth, Sullust, Endor or Tattouine. Everything that should be in the game is likely to be DLC, which costs £40 for a season pass. That is disgusting. The base content for my first £40 is pretty shocking. Yeah, the game is fun, and could be great, but I am not stupid enough to say its a good game just because it looks nice.

Bought as a gift for my husband and he absolutely loves it. It's a total life-stealer tho! Don't expect any kind of conversation or response when this is on. Even our son loves it.
A lot of the time the others who are on your side don't play well as a team but obviously it just depends who's online at the time.
The graphics and sound effects are amazing. Shame there us no option to be a wookie. Maybe on the next update?

This Game is not quite a 3 star its more a 3 1/2 stars.
It is very good, and looks absolutely fantastic. The level of detail is just quite frankly amazing. If only all games had this detail.

Now on to the negatives:
1. No Single Player Campaign of any sorts (sorry but game training IS NOT A SINGLE PLAYER CAMPAIGN)
2. Not enough map variants
3. I know people dislike the prequel trilogy, but still some of the locations etc, were really cool.
4. The complete lack of Space Battle, this was evident in the Force Awakens film, it is called STAR WARS so why is there a lack of stars in the game
5. The heroes are ridiculously hard to kill and find when you want to be one.
6. Air Assaults???? I want to attack more than just transporters
7. The original battlefront games were awesome this does not have any of the charms from the original game (I even play battlefront 2 on the PC still)

This is easily one of the best games I have played. People keep talking about a lack of content and comparing it to the older versions. I actually think the developers have put a lot of effort into make a huge variety of game modes, which feel different and have their own, unique challenges. This was something the previous versions lacked, and after some time, the game became boring. Yes, you die a lot in this game, but that also makes it so much more challenging and interesting. In the previous version I was winning every game- where's the fun in that? The graphics are incredible, and I love the 'practical effects' they have used for explosions and blaster fire. As I say, I think the biggest problem people have is with a lack of content. There's actually about 15 maps, which is not bad considering the quality of their graphics, a wide variety of weapons, power ups and trait cards. The DLCs that are forthcoming and will include more maps, weapons and characters, so this game can only get better. I agree that the price is quite steep, but having played the game I don't regret it at all.

This game is a complete 'rip off' from start to finish!
I totally agree with all the other reviewers who are complaining about just how 'ripped off' they have been with this tawdry, tired game.
Yes, the graphics and sound effects are fantastic, but for nearly £50.00 I expected far more than 4 pathetic maps, a small, quickly boring set of 'training' levels, a pathetically small amount of AI bots that are about as much use as a chocolate fireguard, a pathetic, childish soundtrack and to top it all off you have to pay another £40.00 to get another set of maps, which should have all been included in the first place.

If you are a solo player then please, please take my advice and don't purchase this game at this disgraceful price!
It really is a complete rip off!

So who's written this review? I'm 40, an average gamer (good at one player & cannon fodder in online multiplayer), a massive fan of the original two Battlefront titles on the Xbox (2004/2005).

I have been longing for this game to come out for years -I've never understood why such superb games BF1 & BF2 haven't had a refresh. I played those two games to death. The battles are epic, the single player campaigns were highly enjoyable and I loved playing all the different characters and testing out any vehicle I found as I explored the maps. The replay value was HUGE...

My initial impressions of SWBF on the Xbox One were excellent. The game installed in just 20 minutes (unlike the 12 hours for Destiny Taken King) and Dice even give you a mini game where you get to run round Echo base as Darth Vader eliminating rebel soldiers. An excellent idea that makes you think that this is going to be the first of many fantastic ideas.

The graphics and sound (excluding voice acting) are FANTASTIC but after playing the single player game for maybe 4-5 hours I'm a bit bored. I'm not a fan of online multiplayer games, I don't enjoy getting killed every five seconds by an annoyingly gifted kids. I've got better ways to spend my time so I refuse to play the online offerings of SWBF. People reading this may think saying this game is boring think I'm being harsh -especially since I haven't tried the online multiplayer content. But here's where the problem lies with this new version of SWBF...

The single player content to this title is almost non existent. A few fist to 100 kills battles and a horde style endurance mode. For £42 I expected a lot more. There is the promise of 4 expansion packs in the future but the gameplay just isn't good enough to justify another £40. It feels like this is just half a game -the 20minute installation is a perfect indicator that this is exactly what we have here. I'm gutted. I won't be buying the expansion season pass.
