As a long time Star Trek fan to have these original comics in this format is a treat . The comics themselves can be very expensive in a good condition .The stories as the series progresses get better and better looking forward to volume 3

I never knew these were written by Len Wein, but you can tell the difference in quality in the stories from the previous volume. Plus, it's a bonus to see the original covers. Bring on volume 3.

Some people don't care for these early Trek comics, but I love them. They seem to have been made free from any editorial constraints from Roddenberry/Paramount, so there is a great freedom in the writing (that sometimes results in situations/dialogue that are inconsistent with the show). But these stories, like the Bantam novels, seem to have flown in under the radar because no one knew at the time that Star Trek would be such a hit.

The stories are actually legitimate sci-fi -- not necessarily sophisticated, but interesting, and often more creative than other later Trek fiction.

The covers from this period were photo collages at first, then painted. It is rare to see paintings in comics today.

I intend to collect all the volumes in this series. I had most the original gold key comics, but needed money. I have the three original issues.
