Product description

Product Description

Star Trek: Away Team puts you in charge of an elite group of officers brought together to take care of the Federation's dirty laundry. Your Special Forces unit will consist of 22 characters, each with a unique expertise, such as medicine, engineering, science, security, and command. Before each of the 18 missions, you'll pick a team consisting of three to six officers, based on what type of skills you'll need in order to complete the mission. During the missions you'll view the game from a classic isometric perspective, and can move your squad in real time or pause the game to issue commands. Enemies include Borg, Klingons, Romulans, and rogue Federation members. Locations include Qu'nos, Romulus, Earth, and Vulcan. Equipment includes tricorders, phasers, hyposprays, and phaser rifles.

Star Trek Away Team is one of the best Star Trek Games that there is! During the game you will smuggle your team into a Romulan starbase, Blast your way out of a Borg Cube, save the Klingon homeworld from invasion & Regain Control of a renegade Federation Starship all from the confort of your own home. You will choose four crewmembers out of a Complement of 28 to accompany you, each with unique abilities such as computer hack, Mind Meld, and Alien Technology Salvage. As you send your crew out on missions they will learn new abilities that will complement the battle stratagy you use. Another of the games features is the ability to order your team to run, crouch, create a blockade and set up a crossfire. There are also plenty of weapons and equipment to help you complete your mission such as a cloak suit, A Romulan Disrupter, Sniper Rifle and Stun Grenades. A definite must-have!

I got this not too long ago as I have been picking up several games I missed years ago. When I saw the box and realized this was a multi-character team based game (not a first/third person shooter) I was not that excited, until I installed it...
What resulted was a great adventure. You are in charge of the Away Team as you undertake unconventional missions under the Starfleet radar (and of course, try to save the universe). You have a bunch of well-balanced characters to choose from on your missions. You can operate up to 5-6 characters, clicking on their face and activating their special objects. The interface was very easy to handle and you get the bonus of Data and Worf.
I had never played this kind of game before, so perhaps that's why I think it's so cool. If you're a Star Trek fan you might like this more than the average player as they might find it a bit weak... but I didn't. You soon learn what tactics work (and which ones don't). Hint: Save often and come up with a numbering scheme or something to keep track of your saves as you'll very quickly come up with a long list if you save often like I do!
This is not very cinematic-heavy, so if you're into that sort of thing this might seem a bit low on that. Many missions offer different ways to complete them, they get progressively harder, and your game can be completely different depending on what team you pick (I'm replaying it with different team members). Each character has their own set of dialogue which can be rather amusing. Hint: If you think you've picked the wrong team restart the mission, you'll save yourself a headache!
The difficulty levels come in 'Easy' or 'Normal'.

you play the role of an Captain under the command of Admiral in StarFleet Intel. and you have to unwrap the mystery of a presence from the federation using Captain Refellian and his USS Incusion starship. it starts easy and gets much much more difficult later on, Good luck if your going to buy this game!. the game itself is fully enjoyable and in true trek fasion.
