I have read all these books but bought them individually. As a trilogy they are a bargain! This is a gripping read from the author of 'Star Crusades'. It follows the story of Xenophon and his small band of comrades as they enlist in a large group of mercenaries called the Black Legion who are working for Cyrus, brother to the God-King of the Medes Empire, who seeks to take the Empire for himself. They are promised fame and fortune but instead find themselves in a series of epic battles.

The author keeps the pace up throughout and the battles are very well told making for a well-told and page-turning read. The characters are well developed and make for a rag-tag bunch that knit together as a close band as the story progresses and is well worth a read.

A good start to this tale, ancient Greece meets starships, trying to work out exactly how much is taken from the classic tale, without reading the classic, was fun, for a while :)

Well organized trilogy, fast paced with complex characters and plot. One of the best military science fiction books I have read. The technical details are well thought out. The author has done an admirable job of projecting Ancient Greek history into a far future universe.

I really enjoyed theses novellas, joined together they meshed smoothly from one to another. The battle scenes went from epic to hand to hand, a great range done well by this author. I recommend these SF stories.

With a classical twist. Homer meets Asimov. An exciting and thrilling tale straight out of Ancient Greece into a multi-galactic empire. All the Medes and Persians would be proud.
