Product Description

Drawing heavily on diverse influences such as Star Wars, Japanese Anime and Gerry Anderson's various 'Supermarionation' series, this stellar series ran for twenty-four half hour episodes on UK TV beaming to our TV screens every Saturday morning starting in October 1982.

The English version's theme song was written by Paul Bliss of The Moody Blues, and was also famously covered by Queen member Brian May and Eddie Van Halen.

This take's me back to the 80's when i'd fight my sibling's over the TV to watch STARFLEET during that battle i missed a fair few episodes then it ended just like that. Never shown on TV again. But i never forgot it, now i'm a lot older i now can experience the series again a great piece of nostalgia. Free from the invasion of my sibling's lol

The stuff of memories

For some bizarre reason whilst on holiday this August I woke up with the theme tune for Star Fleet in my head. I'd forgotten the programme ever existed but was so impressed by the recollection the first thing I did on arriving home was order it.
Watched the whole lot in the first day off I had and from the first bars of the opening episode to the closing titles of the finale I was captivated. Memories of Saturday lunch times and British wrestling came flooding back though I was staggered to see the production is as old as it actually is. Even so given the type of production it is the quality of the animation and puppetry is first class and although by modern standards it looks dated, it is appreciated by someone who remembers Thunderbirds and Terrorhawks being part of childhood television.
The DVD collection is neatly packaged in its box and the flexible format allows for skipping over theme tunes and getting straight into the action. The layout of the menus are also neat and tidy and easy to follow.
My children laughed at it but I don't care, i'm sure i'm not the only member of my generation who'll be delighted with owning this series. If you're approaching 40 and remember what it was like to be a child in the early 80s buy without reservation. You won't regret it.

Voyage down the memory space lane...

I loved this as a kid. Rewatching old shows can sometimes be a case of memory cheats, and while this has to be judged as of its time, I binge watched this and loved it. I enjoy Gundam, and I can really see the Gundam influences through PPA, the mech and the psychic powers. Glad I decided to take this particular voyage down the memory space lane! My only gripe is that I would have liked the Japanese version to be on it too.
