The curved handle is ergonomically fine, the lever to extend/retract the blade is sturdy and easy to move, secure when retracted. Replacing blades is very easy, million times better than a brandless £3 one from B&Q or Wickes that must be unscrewed to replace blades and has a plastic lever that immediately breaks.

Good quality trusted brand comes preloaded with a knife blade the only problem I found was this item was supposed to be sent by post and signed on arrival it never the package was posted in an envelope through my door luckily I intercepted it before my 1 1/2 year hold got hold of it as she would have easily got it out of the envelope and had a very sharp knife in her hand so definelty becareful buying this item on a positive not the knife does everything it should as I use it everyday in my trade

I have had a series of Stanley Knives over the years. The early ones, although well made and robust, were not particularly user friendly as you had to separate the two halves of the handle to fit and even retract the blade; luckily I always carry a strong thumb nail! I read through the various reviews on Amazon and this model appeared to be the best. It is: the blades are easy to fit and they are simply retracted with a lever. Robust and easy to use in service.
It comes in one of those dreadful blister packs and the instructions are basic although that is a minor moan so I'll give it five.

Well built. Significant advantage is that blade slider is on the side so you can put your thumb on the top of the handle for extra purchase. With most knives, the slider is on the top so if you do this it depresses the slider and the blade retracts.

A good knife for basic use but if used by certain trades (I am a ceiling fixer/dry liner) it quickly becomes jammed due to material such as plaster dust getting inside. It is then next to impossible to open, and not designed to be easily taken apart and cleaned. I have had to buy a lock knife style one as a replacement.

I had had a quickslide sport knife that i was given as a present which was great for ringing cables etc. problem was it came with a built in lock knife blade which is fine unless you forget its in your work trouser pocket when you wander down to the roll shop to get your breakfast
I looked about for a knife without the lockknife bit and found this its almost as good but the slide mechanism is not as smooth as the sport version and after cutting out some fast fix boxes in a gyproc wall it became a bit clogged up

Really did seem the part, but the blade has worn quickly after just a few uses. I expected the sharpness to remain for some time so disappointed as it is one of the more expensive Staney knives you can get
