Return to Forevers legendary bassist Stanley Clarke's first solo album for Columbia and one of the greatest ever jazz rock fusion releases.

Following hot on the heels of Billy Cobham's groundbreaking Spectrum album, this featured the same mix of electric & acoustic instrumental tracks, but the band here is probably even better. Perhaps the greatest fusion Supergroup ever put together

Tony Williams from Lifetime on drums, Producer Ken Scott capturing perhaps his best ever drum sound; Jan Hammer from Mahavishnu Orchestra on keyboards (as he was on Spectrum) and the great Bill Connors from Return to Forever on guitar. (In fact it is the only album to feature Connors in full jazz fusion electric flight along with RTFs Hymn of the 7th Galaxy - he spent the next 10 ten years on ECM inventing new age acoustic guitar)

With the aforementioned Spectrum and 7th Galaxy this is one of the essential fusion albums and a bargain to boot

Although I am not a bass player (I am a guitarist) I have a lot of respect for the abilities of Stanley Clarke.
I've always preferred Clarke over Jaco Pastorius, althought I am very fond of Jaco also.
This album is great, incredible musicianship from all involved, I purchased this soley for the guitar playing of Bill Connors, but as soon as I put it on I really liked the compositions.
If you want a good fusion album, this is recommended.

Some truly amazing bass playing, drumming and recording work went into this album.

This is another forgotten gem of the 70's. I had this music on my tape recorder then, and this fascinating pharases never vaporised from my memory, but in contrast to it's source. So I rediscovered this music again with a great pleasure.
Some of the rythmic figures and melodic structures from this recording were paradigm for other fusion and generaly jazz artists (for example Ronald Shannon Jackson, Marcus Miller, Christian McBride etc.). Buy it and enjoy it !!!
