Very poorly made, constantly jams

This is a very poorly constructed tool, the chuck doesn't hold a bit very well and the gears constantly jam, even when turning without any load.

I'm returning this for a refund, don't waste your time/money on this

Not fit for purpose. I should have read the description more carefully.

The material of the wheel (aluminum) is too soft. Also the shaft on which the wheel is mounted was too loose. The bevel slipped even whilst I was tightening up the first drill in the chuck. As for drilling (we are talking about a tap size hole for a No 8 screw into softwood) either the bevel kept slipping or the whole drill would jam.

I had to give up and use my oversize mains powered drill for the job.

Very disappointing for a Stanley branded product.

I am returning the item for a refund.

This did not live up to my expectations. I found that, on mine, the gears keep jamming . I had one of these in a tool kit which I got as a present in the 1980s' which had a smooth action. This,however, will go into my mystery box.

Very poor quality for a Stanley branded product

The poor quality of the hand drill became immediately apparent on its first use - a simple job to drill a hole in a pine plank using a small brand new size 4 Bosch drill bit. The poor build quality and the poor mechanical advantage of the gearing of the hand drill made this a much harder job than it should have been. I sent the hand drill back to Amazon for a refund.

I lost a big box full of wood working tools a few years ago and have started to rebuild my collection. Looked around for a hand drill, but all the shops want to sell us are battery/mains driven things that cost an arm and a leg and that look a little over-engineered for drilling a few holes. This Stanley matched up to my requirements perfectly.

This works but it's clearly not the top of the Stanley range. It'll drill a hole but benefits from a liberal supply of lubrication which of course makes it a bit messy. I should have gone for a double pinion version.
