With Riots in Eboracum City, authorities are still trying to regain control over the people by using drastic measures to retaliate against the civilians in the city. But in order to survive these attacks the citizens are starting to fight back. All while this is occurring in the city, a deadly virus has spread among the Underground rebel groups and taking the refuges rescued from the camps out one by one and are soon contaminating the rebels. In order for people to survive, the cure must be retrieved quickly in order for Thia to save the ones she loves. But certain decisions are deadly and not all actions are without consequences.

Standing Ground is Book 2 in the Under Ground Series that should be read a part of the series for the full effect of this brilliant series. It’s Incredible fast paced, action packed captivating read from the first page. This is the third book I have read by this author but Alice Rachel continues to stun me by how incredible and more amazing these books continue to get. I didn’t think she could top the last two but boy oh boy she did! It feels very real and has a depth to it that really makes you stop to think what life would be like if this ever happened. This book seriously has broken my heart many many times reading it! I found myself with tears streaming down my face at numerous times also, but along with the hard scenes there are a few uplifting, happy moments that very slightly help bring this book to an amazing read.

This book is fast paced, action packed, but you never get lost within the story. The emotions that you feel from these characters are heart wrenching, but you can also feel the unconditional love out two main characters have no matter what trials and tribulations are thrown at them.

Standing Ground by Alice Rachel a surprising five-Star read. Despite being Under Ground book two in the series it is in fact the third book, the reading order is Under Ground book 1, Losing Ground book 1.5 and then this book Standing ground book 2, you really should read them all I order to get the full picture and understand how the world and those in it revolve and evolve. (There are other short stories also but I haven’t read them yet, so not sure how they fit)
Once again, we see Thia and Chi and watch as their relationship develops and grows, and Chi proves again how strong and secure he is, by living in a society that doesn’t value women but allowing the woman he loves to be strong and independent, helping her when she is fighting for what she believes in, but not holding it over her. It shows us true sense of character.
We watch Thia as she finally gets her mother back, they start to settle into a new relationship, and while this happens people around them start to get sick, they wonder if it’s the government poisoning them again, but it turns out to be worse. There is a virus that was unleashed by the government in a desperate attempt to gain back control that was slipping during the riots. The rebels face an uphill battle and one that they may not all survive.
The thing I loved most about this book, was that although we got to see This and Chi develop we also got to meet more of the rebels, and saw more of the world they live in and fight for, we get a bigger picture of what is going on and who the main players are within the story. This is an action-packed book that will keep you hooked all the way through, you will read it without realising any time has passed it sucks you in and won’t let go until you finished the last page. Alice Rachel has a talent for dragging you into a different world, one that I doubt many would willing live in.

What an absolutely awesome series. This book can be enjoyed time and time again. It is amazingly intense and the author prepares you for the journey for you to take alongside the characters really well. The characters and story development were perfectly done. This book was extremely well written and has fast become of my favourite books. I will definitely want to one click future releases from this author. This book was full of different emotions with many twists and turns in the book that will keep you guessing what is going to happen till the very end.I have the feeling that I am going to be seeing some special works coming from this author.

I could not wait to get to the end so I devoured it in one sitting. Incredible work!!

The storyline was done really well and was believable. It kept me gripped from the very start until the end, so much so I took the book everywhere with me in order to finish it. I adore this book and cannot wait to read the next in the series as well as other work from this amazing author. I will definitely be recommending this author to everyone I know.

Standing Ground By Alice Rachel is another amazing 5 star read. I really love this series and Chi and Thia are a fantastic couple.
This time we find them battling with a virus that the government has unleashed on them via the refugees, the rebels try and find a cure to save everyone. This is trying to save Chi and her mother who are both sick, she feels her life would be finished without Chi. They are so close and their relationship is so strong. The government seem to want to destroy the rebels at all costs, even the lives of citizens.
We find out a bit more about some of the other rebels, we get to know some of them better and learn a bit about their past. I love the way that the story does not just concentrate on Chi and Thia but expands into the world around them.
I do not want to spoil any of this book, there are twists and turns, shocks and surprises. It will play with your emotions and there is heartbreak. It is definitely big on heartbreak. The story builds up to an amazing climax and I need to read the next book as soon as possible. It is difficult to say more without giving away something you need to read for yourself!
You really need to read this series, it is one of the best dystopian stories out there. It addresses so many issues and is written so well. It draws you in and you feel for each and every character not just Chi and Thia.
