Whether or not mine had a manufacturing defect, I can't say - the strength of other reviews seems to suggest it may be possible and that otherwise, they're okay. It does seem that my case is not an isolated one though.
I dropped one star because, over the 18 months of use, the top edge of material has peeled off at the edges and is curling back. It looks a bit tatty now.
Build seems ok, but I'm sure given the fabric that has been used that this will start to gather dirt and discolour over time. Sure, I could take a shower more often but over time dirt and grime will become a problem.
I do like how it goes the full length of my keyboard giving support right across the key range including the 10 keys.
When I'm thinking I tend to lean on my desk and this also helps with that. No more sore elbows.
The top layer will peel back in about 6-8 months if you are not careful. I bought a second one which should speak to how much I love this product. I do like to place my elbow on it and rest my head on my hand. It keeps my elbow nice and comfortable but my previous one did end up with a couple of slight dents from a year of leaning. I'm taking better care of this one but it's easily worth it to buy a new one every year if you don't want to be careful with it.
I expected this to fray at the edges, to develop grooves and discolour.
But after a couple of months of using this at work (8 hours a day 5 days a week) this thing has only developed a slight dimple, which is beacause i tend to dig my elbow into it and rest my head on my hand.
Its lovely, no fraying, no discolouration.
its sturdy too, stays put with just enough give that it moves when you want it to.

Simply love it - its wider and thicker than most wrist rests, and its handy to rest elbows on too. A very handy, comfortable accessory to a keyboard. Read morePublished 6 days ago by Caroline Lander
The blue pictured it more purple, either that or they ran out of blue and thought purple would be fine.Published 6 days ago by Josh
Slightly disappointed in the quality of the foam - edges scuffed more easily that I'd expected.Published 1 month ago by Mr Worm.
I have had a few of these for bothering keyboard and mouse over the last couple of years and I really like them. Only not 5 stars because they are fairly difficult to clean.Published 1 month ago by ZedZim
Almost perfect, however I'm wary of cleaning it due to the lack of any stitched edging and thus fear of fraying. Read morePublished 3 months ago by justnvc
The wrist pad does the job well, but the material is real cheap and it has started already to peel off. It won't last long.Published 3 months ago by LLC
Nice and high and does the job nicely. It's combined right now with a Corsair K70 keyboard as the wrist rest on that keyboard is next to useless for me. Read morePublished 5 months ago by RSilver
