Very solid product, sturdy and obviously adjustable. The only bad thing i can find about this is that the adjusting screws are EXTREMELY tight, we had to use heavy tools to open them at first, and even now they are still a bit stuff (hurts your hands!). I'd reccommend Stagg, but look for something a bit more pricey with ergonomic adjusting screws.

Can't complain about this product. It's well priced and well build. I would disagree with the other review that the adjustment locks are too tight as mine seem fine. It's sturdy and well finished though I would say it wouldn't survive too many rough punk/rock gigs being thrown around stage as it's not as chunky as more expensive models and it doesn't feel like it could take the abuse. Having said that acoustic artists or those who don't abuse their gear should find this last ages. Being a rocker myself I have bought this for studio use only so it shouldn't get thrown around too much. It has taken many different types of microphone already and I've not had any problems attaching mic cradles.

Oh one thing to note this does not have a mic holder - if you're expecting to use it right out the box and use a cheap mic or one that wasn't supplied with it's own cradle then you'll need to buy that too.

EDIT: It's now mid-July and I've had this for over 4 months. In that time I was actually forced to use it in a gig situation (a hard rock gig) and it stood up well, even to being thrown about. Still not sure if it'd take that kind of abuse night after night but I am still impressed for how well it performs for the money.

I bought this stand because it looked pretty solid and in the picture, it has a round tightener at the top and I much prefer that to a metal bar.

Well the one I received has a metal bar to tighten the top bit.

It's very lightweight and doesn't feel like it will last long being used for gigs and put in the boot of my car with other equipment.

It will do it's job and if you are able to look after it without having to use it publicly too much then it's a fine mic stand.

Not the sturdiest on this planet, but it does what it should: holds a mic. Now for this price is just great, I wish it was a bit taller to let me hang the mic from above while I'm standing with a mic booth in front of me, instead I have to keep the vertical rod just in front of me, not easy to set up that way.

I purchased this as a second microphone stand and am most pleased with it. Very good value, easy to carry and quick to set up. I have a much more expensive stand which is heavy and extremely stable but is much more difficult to set up. I didn't find that the adjustment mechanisms hurt my hands as others have mentioned. If I had to make a criticism it would be that it's a bit light but at the price I can easily overlook this. I recommend this item.

Great. Just brilliant - no problems holding Behringer C-1 and cheap spider mount, when I upgrade it might have problems. Actually well made - my first stand I've owned though - and really helped my song-writing come on as am now able to play piano and sing at the same time.

All in all one of the best purchases in music I've made. Tightens enough, feels well made and stays even well fully horizontal (which I have it at permanently)

Nice and includes mic clip and mount. Can be used to hold two mics if you're creative enough (one for vocals, and one for acoustic guitar). But not sure of materials used.
Will update review once used more than three times.

the stagg black boom mic stand is an excellent bit of kit, sturdy, nice finish, takes the weight of my condenser mic at different angles(for vocals & miking up my acoustic & amp).
All adjusting screws e.t.c. work without problem, as another reviewer said " why pay three times as much when you can buy this ?"
