As a designer, I appreciate the truly well-made things in life but I can be a tight-fisted a*se and it is fair to say that these are not particularly well-made. These are cheap, cheerful and useful in the studio when you just set it up and leave them alone. They even come with a cable clip each! For stage use, you're better off looking elsewhere.
Well I wasn't expecting much as this is probably one of the cheapest stands on Amazon. As expected the quality is poor, but then you get what you pay for. It's very light weight and poorly made. I really can't see it lasting very long but who knows. One problem is because it is so light it's not very stable especially with a relatively heavy mic attached. You don't get the mic clip/holder by the way in case you haven't studied the advert closely.
I only have myself to blame on this one. I really should have spent more. Doh!
OK, hands up it’s not quite as sturdy as some that I have used but for £15 or there abouts this is a bargain.
I use it with a standard dynamic mic (the excellent Behringer M8500) and it feels sturdy and none of the joins slip. All the knobs and twidly bist work and are easy to use although the twisty sleeve bit that locks the inner and outer vertical shafts was pretty tight and needed some working initially.
The boom arm stays held in firm and overall feels reasonably well weighted.
I do totally expect this to last for years in a studio setting where it would be set up and left alone, however less convinced of its long term performance when gigging etc… where stuff gets thrown about. To be frank though when I do get gigging again I will just buy a spare as I have seen expensive ones broken when having an amp thrown on them just the same.
Been gigging with this, no problems at all so far. Which is more than I can say for every other boom mic stand I've ever used.
It looks very good too - far better than the price tag would suggest. To be honest, I'm glad it wasn't any cheaper. This is just on the correct side of being as cheap as it can whilst still performing its "job" - much further the wrong way down the scale, and it wouldn't.
I'd recommend this stand for anyone working with polite, studio musicians.

This stand is sturdy for the price, I bought it to use with my vocal booth. The arm is too weak for the booth but the main stand is perfect for it!Published 26 days ago by Heather Moor
