5.0 out of 5 stars A Unique Addition To the Surfeit of Coffee Table Golf Books 21 Jan. 2012
By Donald A. Collins - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
Having played at St. Andrews multiple times as well as all over Scotland and Ireland, I guess I qualify as a golf nut. My book shelves bulge with golf books of every description, including those with pretty pictures of golfing sites at their most photographable.

This book certainly fits the most photographable category, but it is so outstanding that I added it to my huge collection of golf books. Most pretty picture golf books are one time reads and this will likely be the same, but once you enjoy it, won't it make a great Christmas or birthday gift to another golfing friend?

Standing on the first tee of the Old Course for your opening drive toward Swilcan bern packed with veteran caddies and other waiting golfers comes about as close to the feeling a high handicap golfer can get to the tension a neofyte pro must have in teeing off in his first Masters. The book takes you there and everywhere to the now multiple courses at St Andrews with stunning photos and interesting prose.

Go there, enjoy and then pass the book along, as it should not linger to be only read once or twice on your shelf.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous! 20 Oct. 2011

This book is wonderful! The pictures are worth a million dollars- or pounds, as it were. It is just the right length, not too short, but not too long. It is just the right size for a coffee table book. I bought it for my Dad who is going to St. Andrews to play the Old Course in the spring of 2012.
4.0 out of 5 stars St. Andrews Book 18 May 2013

As I was planning my Bucket-List trip to St. Andrews this June 2013, I wanted to connect to the area just a little bit more. In doing some research, I came across this book. The St. Andrews: The Home of Golf book is beautifully laid out with great photos and historical information.

I'm so glad i got it and will be keeping it out on the coffee table next to my soon to be photo album of my trip!

I recommend this book to everyone!

With a trip to St. Andrews coming up this booik was just what I was looking for. The fact that I am only going to be in St. Andrews and playing many of the course there makes this book perfect.
