In-home service for large items
For large items, we'll send a technician to your home, or you can arrange for your own repair provider and we'll reimburse you. Your choice.
If you need a repair while abroad, send us a valid repair receipt for your item and we will reimburse you within five business days.
Cancel or transfer anytime
Customers receive a full refund if they cancel in the first 45 days. Refunds are pro rata after that. Transferring your protection plan is free and can be done over the phone.
We'll email your protection plan to you within two hours of purchase. (Remember to check your SPAM filter if you don't receive it.)
How does a SquareTrade plan work?
File a claim online 24/7, or over the phone from 8am to 8pm Mon-Fri and 9am to 6pm Sat-Sun (GMT).
We’ll provide free express postage to and from our service depot. For large items, we’ll send a technician to your home.
If we can't repair or replace it, we'll pay you the replacement value.

SquareTrade's claim process is painless - start over the phone. Express shipping is free to and from SquareTrade's depot, and you will be sent a special shipping box for fragile electronics. You will receive email updates at every step in the process so you will never be left in the dark:

SquareTrade has designed the warranty with your needs in mind. They make it easy for you to:
- Cut the paperwork. You can fax or email SquareTrade your item receipt any time, and they will store it as proof of purchase.
- Cancel anytime. In the first 30 days, you may cancel for a full refund. After that, you are reimbursed the unused part of your warranty – e.g., if you cancel your 3-year warranty, after 18 months with no claims, you'll get 50% of your money back.
- Transfer at no cost. When your device changes ownership, so can your warranty. Transfers can be done via phone.
- No refurbished replacements.The last thing you want when your item breaks down is a cheap refurbished item that is two generations old. If your item breaks and can't be fixed, you will be reimbursed your full item replacement cost. Reimbursement may be in the form of a cash settlement or a gift card from the merchant from which you bought the insured item.

- Upon purchase, you will get an email. This is your official confirmation of a purchase. The email will also have a link to the "My Warranties" section on the SquareTrade website where you can view and manage your warranties. You will not get a paper contract unless you request one. So as to offer an efficient customer experience, SquareTrade may also contact you about your purchase by telephone.

- Warranty lasts three years from item purchase date. Your warranty plan begins on the date you purchased your item and is inclusive of the manufacturer warranty period. For pre-ordered products call SquareTrade to extend your warranty plan to the actual shipping date. If you have an issue and are covered by the manufacturer at that time, you'll be directed to the manufacturer first.

First time was motor on the washing machine gone, apparently it was a manufacturer fault
Second time a part wore off due to normal/instructed use and they refused on the basis that it was "accidental" damage.
I wanted to confirm that the cover purchased was correct
for the appliance and made a phone call.
The issue was clarified promptly with the utmost efficiency.
I am extremely pleased however have not had to claim so cannot
comment on that aspect.
1) this warranty is only available for products bought on Amazon
2) the warranty is only available on certain items - excluding tablets (and presumably lots of other things)
And I only found this out because I emailed the company - they would have been quite happy to take my money then refuse any subsequent claim.
