Book Description

A beautiful collector's edition of the latest terrifying installment in Joseph Delaney's worldwide hit Spook's series.

From the Inside Flap

'A lot of dark stuff happened when I was young that I've never even told to my dearest friend, Tom Ward. Dark and scary things that I hoped I had left behind for ever . . .'

Over the years, Alice has fought side by side with the Spook and his apprentice, Thomas Ward. But now Alice is alone - in the realm of the dark. And the creatures she has helped to banish there, now have the chance to take their revenge.

Alice must seek the final weapon to destroy the Fiend. If she fails, the world will fall into despair and darkness. If she suceeds, it means facing her death at the hands of her dearest friend. But can she prevent the darkness from overtaking her completely . . . ?

The penultimate instalment of the Wardstone Chronicles follows Alice, Thomas Ward's loyal companion, to the most terrifying place of all.

This book is a must have for all the fans of the Joseph Delaney's Wardstone books.
It gives you a good background, and more depth to many of his characters. It also slots a few pieces of the jigsaw together. A nice read, and certainly NOT TO BE READ AFTER DARK!!!!

These books are brilliant my 10 year old son loves these books. Well done Joseph Delaney. The film was not good though as it was American when the books are actually set in Lancashire England which is pretty unique.

12th book in series great book but at times the story did seem to not have the spark of the previous books, still was very hard to put down, really enjoyed the read and how the story has developed so far. The ending was very unexpected.

Took me a while to get into this book, I liked the way we bump into Thorne again and the journey around the domains of the dark was interesting. I did feel in places this was a little of a gap filler before the thirteenth book in the series, not sure about this. Looking forward to the next one!

Joseph Delaney delivers here five very original and entertaining tales that all relate to the dark he faces everyday and the theme of these stories is witches. Each of the stories are eerie, spooky and scary and, in the case of the story Alice and the brain guzzler, gruesome. Each of the different tales has a different person narrating them, the first is the Spook himself when he was younger, telling the tale of how he met Meg the lamia witch and fell in love, the second is narrated by a dead witch who tells us in gory detail about her life as a dead witch and how she came to be one, the third story is narrated by Grimalkin and is the story of how she came to be so angry with the fiend, the fourth is narrated by Alice as she tells us of her life with her Aunt Bony lizzie (or if you've read Spooks Nightmare you'll know she isn't really her aunt), the fifth story is narrated by Tom Ward as he describes his time training with Bill Arkwright.
Overall this is a very well written addition to the Wardstone Chronicles and provides fans with extra details and insights into the spooks world, it is also a perfect introductory book for anyobdy who has not yet started the wardstone chronicles.

I have loved all the Spook's Books. I couldn't wait for this book to arrive. Being the sad person I am though I didn't want to read it as I didn't want to know what happened (I did really) as it meant I would nearer the end of the books. Tom, Alice and The Spook are very easy to imagine in your head and the magical land they live in. We are off to Lancashire later in the year hope we don't bump into anyone with stripy tights and pointy shoes walking down the street.
