A good example of the Peter Green come-back. The version of The Stumble is well worth listening to. A good album for PG fans, although the "Soho Sessions" album is slightly better in my opinion.

This album marks the return of Peter Green with his recently assembled Splinter Group. It is a superb collection of blues music, with tracks ranging from "earthy" and traditional blues sounds, such as "Hitch Hiking Woman" through to up-beat and guitar intensive tracks such as the excellent "Going Down". Clearly, Peter Green still has a remarkable talent and this album makes great listening for blues fans of all types. A sound buy, and proof that the legend lives on!

Ok, so unsurprisingly PG here isn't as good as his FM days... But nobody really expected him to be! This is pretty much the first time he'd been seriously back in a studio or on stage for over a decade. Most of the tracks are live, and after a few listens it's easy to develop a few favourites, and to skip on the average ones. But I've discovered it's actually a more enjoyable cd if approached fresh, and just left to play in order. The sound quality is very good, and the splinter group are certainly solid and capable, but I imagine most people will be buying this cd to hear PG:
And considering this is essentially his come-back after everything he's been through, he's mostly excellent. So ok his voice isn't great (and does improve on later splinter group recordings) and the guitar playing isn't 100% perfect all the time, but the best news is that he actually sounds like he's enjoying himself - the unmistakable PG feeling, phrasing & timing is definitely there. Later recordings do show a more accurate and tuneful PG, but they're also more subdued and dull, to me this shows PG with the best tone, fluidity and energy of his splinter group era - the finale 'Goin Down' is proof of this and an excellent end to a great cd.

A must album for all the right reasons. This was Peter Greens comeback album, And it made an impact with me straight away.
Great support with guitar + vocals from Nigel Watson and the band. The first 2 songs, are studio recorded, Pete on his own some nice slide guitar, the rest of the album is "Live ".and cracking stuff it is too. With the likes of "look over yonder wall" "From four until late", and a great rendition of the " Freddie King" song " Going down" amongst the offerings, and some Robert Johnson too. This albums been knocking around a while now but its rarely off the stereo system, I cant believe how good the prices are either, you just cant go wrong here. if your already a peter green fan you probably have this already. but if your browsing looking for a tidy bluesy album look no further, Great Stuff !!.
