From the Inside Flap
"Thought-provoking! It will inspire as well as motivate the reader to consider politics, or at least democracy in a whole new light. The authors have given us reasons for being part of the solution, not just the problem. If you're willing to create more than your own future, read this book."
FORMER CONGRESSWOMAN, RHODE ISLAND
In this profound and revolutionary work, veteran social activists Corinne McLaughlin and Gordon Davidson shift the focus of political dialogue from the "evening news" to the hidden spiritual causes of world affairs. We begin to understand what events like the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the Clarence Thomas hearings, and the national health crisis can tell us about deeper forces at work--including karma, reincarnation, and the "soul of nations." The key is recognizing the Divine hand behind human evolution. In the face of profound human crises, we learn to ask what spiritual lessons are being taught. SPIRITUAL POLITICS shows that each individual's inner work--meditation, prayer, visualization--can affect outer events. There is something each of us can do right here, right now, to change the world. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

The authors come out of the Alice Bailey/Agni Yoga (invented by Helena Roerich)/ latter day Findhorn sphere of intellectuality. That includes a huge over-estimation of the United Nations and its positive role in the world, which might have been justified in 1945 but scarcely so now! And the Roerichs were, to some extent, used by Bolshevist forces, notably Lunacharsky. That must make their pronouncements suspect, despite Nikolai Roerich's lovely paintings, which I have seen at his Museum in New York City (recommended).
I cannot agree with some of the conclusions reached, such as that the so-called "Ageless Wisdom" equates the Good with "the good of the greatest number"...From a Christian point of view (occult or exoteric), that must be seen as theological Error with a capital "E"! In fact, the fact that the wisdom is termed "Ageless" would seem to indicate a progress only in a circle, the Serpent swallowing its own tail (the symbol of the Theosophical Society) or Nietzsche's Ring of Eternal Recurrence. No.
The important positive point about this book is that it does show that purely spiritual effort can have actual effects in the physical world.
I love people - unconditionally. I don't love things - I like them.
