Product Description

Product Description

The Spirit Indestructible is the fifth album from Canadian multi-platinum singer and songwriter Nelly Furtado. Furtado co-wrote each song on the album, which, in keeping with her musically eclectic nature, finds her working with an array of collaborators from across the musical spectrum, including hip-hop songwriter-producer Salaam Remi (Furtado’s "The Night is Young", Nas), pop songwriter-producer Rodney Jerkins (Michael Jackson, Beyonce and Lady Gaga), veteran metal producer Bob Rock (Metallica), Dutch DJ and EDM producer Tiesto, rock songwriter and producer John Shanks, and Jamaican reggae producer Da Genius.

This deluxe version of the album features several bonus tracks, including Furtado’s collaborations with Fraser T. Smith (Adele), producer and Passion Pit lead singer Mike Angelakos, and a track featuring the Kenyan Boys Choir that Furtado produced herself.

I've lover her since she released her first single. Admittedly, I wasn't overly keen on her debut but loved Folklore - such a beautiful and organic sounding album. Then came the commercial Loose which was packed with hits and brought the recognition she deserved. This album, takes the energy of Loose and the authentic of Loose and produces something magnificent.

When I first played the album I didn't take to the mixture of sounds, but after playing it throughout I came to love it. The album starts with big beat let numbers like the infectious title track and follows on with tracks like Parking Lot, which combines an infectious melody with pounding beats. High Life is a personal highlight and would of served a better lead single rather than the sometimes annoying Big Hoops. The album then takes a turn with more mid-tempo songs such as Bucket List and Miracles and then features some darker songs such as Enemy. The standard album ends on a high with Believers which is catchy and sounds like an already established anthem. But, if you're gonna buy the album pay the extra and get the deluxe version as some of the best songs, like End of the World are featured. Another personal favourite.

All in all its a solid album well worth 5 stars. Just a shame the album didn't match up to its more commercial predecessor as it is a more superior and mature album.

Buy it, you won't be disappointed.

the long awaited new album.

released on a regular cd (which i will review seperately) this is to let you know that if you buy the 2 cd edition you will not be disappointed and it is well worth the extra few pounds!

the extra tracks are stunning!

"hold up" might sound a bit dodgy for the first 15 seconds but is soon comes into its own

"end of the world" is a beautiful track...similar to "end of the world"

"dont leave me" has a reggae backing but dont be put off it's a great track and nelly sounds fanatastic and the lyrics are great!

two versions of "thoughts" are included, its a great poppy song, i prefer the tiesto remix

"end game" is another beautiful song and could be a single release!

i dont know why the bonus tracks are so good - i can only think nelly wanted to go back to the ethnic roots of "forca" for the album so these had been put aside as they sounded so much like "loose"

i promise if you buy this you will not be disappointed...

I've never been a diehard Nelly Furtado fan, but this album blew me away. It's got the kind of tunes you'd love to hear in a club but also aren't too trancy to play in the morning while you're getting ready for work. There is a enough variation from one song to the next to make the album playable all the way through without getting boring, which is usually the issue I have with this genre. If you only download one song, make it Waiting for the Night.

Nelly Furtado hasn't really done anything "big" since her 'Loose' album back in 2007. Sure, she did a few releases (Mi Plan, The Best Of Nelly Furtado (or something)), but those weren't exactly "major releases", or at least they didn't make a huge impact. The Spirit Indestructible was hoping to make a big comeback for her, and it's failed miserably. However, I think that was due to lack of promotion (or maybe sexiness), as this album is excellent.

Nelly's debut album 'Whoa, Nelly' was certainly interesting, but I found it disappointing. With the exception of a few songs (particularly 'Turn Off The Light'), it felt rushed and too experimental. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't very engaging. Her sophomore album 'Folklore', was far better in my opinion. It felt far more complete and it made you open your ears and listen, rather than pass you by fairly unnoticed. The standout tracks on there were the exhilarating 'Explode' and the beautiful ballad, 'The Grass Is Green'.

'Loose' is by far her most successful album to date. It's probably also her most commercial album to date. The only tracks that you could possibly see on one of her previous albums were 'Afraid' and 'Te Busque'. I didn't think it was anywhere near as good as Folklore, but judged on it's own merits, it's a really good R&B album. The standout track for me was the simple summery pop song 'Do It'.

In 2009 Nelly released 'Mi Plan' which was an album entirely sung in Spanish. I just though it was enjoyable. Nothing more, nothing less. I just couldn't help thinking it was a stopgap between Loose and a future album. The best track on there was probably Vacación.

So how's TSI? Well...

It's not her best album, i say it's her weakest album to date! ther's something weird about it. It has very good tracks but overall it's very inconsistent! Better luck next time Nelly. Love you anyway!

I received the new Nelly Furtado album in the post from Amazon today. From the moment the album started I was completely hooked! An excellent new sound, tons of very bassy bass, great for turning it up loud and blowing away all the cobwebs. I've listened to it three times already and just had to write a review as it is not often one can listen to an album and like absolutely all of it! Bravo Nelly, it was worth the wait! Glad I bought a second copy for my daughter!!
