2.0 out of 5 stars interesting, but... 4 Jan. 2013
By Carleen R. Gerber - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
I have a long-term interest in South AFrica and have followed it's political evolution for 25 years. THis book is interesting, and I suspect very true to life in post-apartheid South Africa, but it did not "dig deeply" enough for me. I would have wished for deeper character development and more depth about life outside the litte private school in which the story is set.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great read from South African writer 25 Oct. 2012
By I'd rather be reading - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
Set in an Afro-Centric school in post apartheid South Africa, Matlwa's novel explores how the heart's refusal to be tamed by reason and the relentless tidal pull of one's past collide with present events. It is a story of pain and redemption. Read it.
