Using this book will improve your understanding of math and have you performing like a genius!
People who excel at mathematics use better strategies than the rest of us; they are not necessarily more intelligent.
Speed Mathematics teaches simple methods that will enable you to make lightning calculations in your head including multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction, as well as working with fractions, squaring numbers, and extracting square and cube roots. Here’s just one example of this revolutionary approach to basic mathematics:
96 x 97 =
Subtract each number from 100.
96 x 97 =
Subtract diagonally. Either 96 3 or 97 4.
The result is the first part of the answer.
96 x 97 = 93
Multiply the numbers in the circles. 4 x 3 = 12.
This is the second part of the answer.
96 x 97 = 9312
It’s that easy!

All what you get is perspective to think and that's what all is needed. In my opinion, do give it shot and work out yourself which one you want to take forward, in fact during the process you will also have evolved few more techniques which means you have started thiniking and liking mathematics..
I was intrigued. Although I can 'do' maths, I've never really been a massive fan - yes, even though I'm a computer scientist.
This book is fantastic, it's a great read. It's written in plain English and quickly shows you simple methods for impressive maths skills. Some processes go against what we're taught at school from an early age and what 'we all know' about maths - but the results are so impressive it blows your mind.
After reading this book the first time, I've recommended it to a number of people. I honestly believe they should teach many of these techniques to children and I plan in doing so with out first child on her way.
I should point out that most of the methods in this book are from Vedic Maths - so if you have a book on Vedic Maths you will not find anything that new.
Strange he makes no mention of Vedic Maths in his introduction but does mention similarities to Trachtenberg.
I assume he must be aware of Vedic Maths - it has been around long enough.
Still a good book on speed maths though. Well worth a read.
simple and easy to follow
will take a lot of effort to get it as second nature
A great study guide-thanks to Mr. Handley.
