Format: Hardcover
This Book is an excellent compilation of the major fantasy artists of the day. It is packed full of examples of varying styles and subject matter and is not just the usual generic dungeons and dragons/lord of the rings stuff that we have seen time and time again. This is an 'Art of' book rather than a 'How to'. So if your looking for hints, tips or tutorials this is not the book for you. However this is an excellent source of inspiration for any aspiring fantasy or sci-fi artist and is well worth the price. The art work inside ranges from traditional formats such as oil paintings, water colour and sculpture to digital and mixed media. I do not think this is a book to be over looked. It is a great book for anybody interested in art of any kind because of its wide ranging imagery and has compiled a truly great collection of artists and their works. I have found myself constantly referring to it for inspiration and simply for the enjoyment and escapism the imagery provides.

As with the previous issues, Spectrum 17 once again offers a collection of the very best that the art of science fiction and fantasy can offer. I am very glad that I have bought this and will undoubtedly continue to buy the next books of the series.

I mainly bought this concept art book to get paintings by Derek Stenning and his "Degenerate Art". I also found a couple of other great artists, mixed with a couple of more "bland" ones. This is a good book for spotting a few diamonds in the concept art rough.
Enjoy!
