Product Description

Product Description

A cryptic message from the past sends James Bond on a rogue mission to Mexico City and eventually Rome, where he meets Lucia Sciarra (Monica Bellucci), the beautiful and forbidden widow of an infamous criminal. Bond infiltrates a secret meeting and uncovers the existence of the sinister organisation known as SPECTRE.
Meanwhile back in London, Max Denbigh (Andrew Scott), the new head of the Centre for National Security, questions Bond’s actions and challenges the relevance of MI6, led by M (Ralph Fiennes). Bond covertly enlists Moneypenny (Naomie Harris) and Q (Ben Whishaw) to help him seek out Madeleine Swann (Léa Seydoux), the daughter of his old nemesis Mr White (Jesper Christensen), who may hold the clue to untangling the web of SPECTRE. As the daughter of an assassin, she understands Bond in a way most others cannot.
As Bond ventures towards the heart of SPECTRE, he learns of a chilling connection between himself and the enemy he seeks, played by Christoph Waltz.

James bond is back in the twenty fourth installment of Ian Flemings super spy. First the good news the gun barrel is back at the start which takes us in to the opening scene with bond in Mexico this gets the film of to a great start.the film is long but moves a long fast with the story line. a lot has been said about this film but it is well made. this is the second time I have watched the film i must say i liked it a lot more than seeing it in the cinema last year. PQ is great in 2.35. 16Ă—9. Give this 4 stars due to lack of extras on this blu ray.

..as the others! Must admit that some reviews have got this right about it not being as good as the others. It was disjointed and it lacked a natural flow with the feeling that to cut costs they missed scenes out and just kept the storyline going. It was very much a series of scenes that failed to grab attention to empathise with the characters. Daniel Craig was undermined by a lack lustre script not a lack lustre performance and the director Sam Mendez got it wrong with this one. It did manage to scrape through as a mediocre bond film certainly not one of the best but certainly not one of the worst, that being awarded to On Her Majesties service. The sound track was appropriate for what was about to be seen as it held no gravitas as a powerful bond introduction. There were other good performances but not enough storyline or script for other actors to get their teeth into. It is worth a view but do not expect to be anywhere near as good as the last three, you will come away feeling that there was something only just holding it all together.

This is a sequel to SKYFALL. Bond battles "the author of all his pain" as his secret past is revealed. An international organization plans on uniting all the top intelligence agencies in order to combat terrorism. However their goals are not benign nor are their methods honorable. Bond has his hands tied by his own agency as he operates in a semi-rogue fashion.

The film gives us plenty of over the top action, Bond girls, Bond lines, Bond car and the Bond drink. I don't recall the casino. It shows the evolution of a man. It also shows us why men like Bond are obsolete in the modern world of intelligence gathering and drones....or does it?

Perhaps it is me, but the film seems to changed to have more action than drama. Don't expect a sequel.

At the time I posted this The Man from UNCLE is averaging 4 stars and Spectre 3.5 on the customer ratings which should have the producers of Spectre deeply worried. I almost feel I need to defend Spectre. It was entertaining, it had lots of stunts and action, Craig remains my favourite Bond, the acting is great, so why was I...just slightly...bored...in a Bond film!!?? For the first time watching Bond I found myself looking at my watch. I think the problem is the structure of this film is identical to so many others where Skyfall brought originality. It felt like a collection of scenes cut and pasted from previous films, simply recast and acted out on new sets. That is great if you want a homage to the series so far but not if you want to push these movies forward. Will I buy the DVD? Of course I will, but for the first time I might walk not run.

Great expectations: hard to meet, hard to manage. Daniel Craig and Sam Mendes sent them sky high, along with their supporting cast and crew, after Skyfall, and like many others, this Bond fan was almost nervous to go and see Spectre, for fear of disappointment.

But I needn't have worried. Is Spectre a better film than Skyfall? Probably not, but it's just as much fun, perhaps even more so. Where Skyfall went for emotional depth and a harsh examination of Bond's bruised psyche, Spectre just goes all out on a classic and spectacular Bond adventure. It looks and feels different to its predecessor, in part because of the work of cinematographer Hoyte vanHoytema, but mainly because Mendes and Craig, wisely, take their Bond to new territory. Up until now, Craig's 007 has been losing and finding himself, shifting from swagger to slump as he deals with loss, betrayal and introspection. Now, in his fourth (and last?) outing, Craig's Bond has found his feet and seems, finally, to be able to enjoy his work.

Ralph Fiennes (M), Ben Wishaw (Q) and Naomie Harris (Moneypenny) all return, and have plenty to do in this particular outing, and that's no bad thing. While much was made of Monica Belucci's involvement, one can only assume that a lot of it was left on the cutting room floor, since she is given little more to do than what we saw in the trailer. Far more satisfying is Lea Seydoux's performance as Madelinne Swann, who is easily the most captivating Bond girl of the Craig era since Eva Greene in Casino Royale. Like Green's Vesper Lynd, Swann forces Bond to confront his dark side, and she brings out a protective and determined streak in the main man.

As I was watching spectre I was enthralled by it, the production is great, the sound is great, the acting is pretty fantastic, but now I've had chance to sleep on it I'm left thinking it's a film I probably wouldn't watch again. It's kind of if quantum of solace and skyfall had a baby, but was raised by the old bond films.
