This album was one that I had waited for since Tairrie B diminished Tura Satana. And the album was not a let down in any way. Twisting from personal gothic ballards to tremendous roars of savage fury Ms. B unleashes her battered heart into an album that was the best I had heard in a long long time.

I bought this album years ago, just after it came out and, at the time, didn't like it much. It has since languished on the bottom of my CD rack, almost forgotten. Today, however, I was working from home due to snow and put it on as background music ...

... I was blown away!

This album has really grown on me and I feel rewarded for revisiting it. Miss B shows a good range of styles and the album sounds like a sonic window into her tortured soul.

My only criticism is that it is rather long, at 18 tracks and a more rigorous selection process might have been helpful. Still, there is enough variety here to stop things from getting too boring.

Tura Satana REST IN PEACE, two great albums, can Tairrie make it on her own?...
Well yes of course she can and she has, but not on her own but not forming a secure band either, call this 'My Ruin' Tairrie's solo project. Consisting of Five different writers and producers (These include english remix crew Bushaq, ex bandmates Tura Satana and the guys from Downset and Tairrie B. herself writing the finest lyrics and co-producing all tracks) 'Terror' a misleading first track, that truly astounds us with its unfolding dimentions, produced by Bushaq, a spoken word combo of mega bass, crunching guitars and a fantastic chorus this a complete surprise of Tairrie's new found sound. not quite. enter 'Preacher' produced and written by Melanie Makiwai and Tairrie, this here appears as a live track and so it should! this gives the song a whole new meaning and just to let you know that Tairrie... is for real, but also welcomes us back to Tairrie's brutal reality.
Throughout the 18 tracks, it's plain to see how it works so well.. there is so much variety on it, it offers the listener to see the many different sides to Tairrie her vocal and emotions. Not for the faint hearted... if not all of them the highlight tracks are: Terror, Tainted Love (yes! ) Blasphemous Girl, Sycophant and Masochrist.

This is a great album, If you liked Tura Satana's "Relief Through Release" this is definatley worth investigating. The album moves from the industrial dance-esq "Terror" to the very soft "june 10th" and through to a track that wouldn't have looked out of place on a Tura Satana album ("Bright Red Scream"). It's not as loud or as heavy as their current album but it's good none the less.

so here we have the debut of my ruin and it is the sound of a band still trying to work out which sound works best for them and as such the styles vary across the album from metal and rock through punk to electronica and most of the rest in between.
because of this some of it works and some of it doesn't
for me the metal parts are the most effective as tairrie cant sing but the girl can scream and roar with the best of them
the overall effect is very scatter shot because of the experimentation element

I had a few My Ruin tracks from cover CDs so I decided to take the plunge and buy this album. Unfortuanetly I was disappointed. Okay her screaming vocals are scary and noisy but she screams alot more in their new stuff. Alot of the tracks are slow, gothic ballads. But putting critisms aside, there are a few excellent tracks, my favourite being Blaspehmous Girl.
