The final book in the Saving Angels series has been released.
I’m not ready to say goodbye to all of my friends I have made along the way.
Do we ever really say goodbye though?
That feels like a good way to start this review.
I’ve been reading this series since book one, Marigny Street. I have grown more and more attached to each of these characters as this became my favorite series I have ever read. Each book is a work of art from the cover to the words inside. Sparrow Way is no exception.
It may be my favorite book of the five. Each of these books has been a beautiful emotional journey for me, but I think that Sparrow Way managed to pull every shred of feeling that I have inside of me, from tears to laughter, I ran the gamut of the emotional spectrum.
It’s really hard to go into detail about the happenings in Sparrow Way because it would be so easy to give something away and this whole book to me relies on not knowing until you get to that moment.
There were moments that made my heart stop as I fell into the pages of this book. There were things that I didn’t see coming. There were times when I wanted to call Annie Rose Welch up (or hit her on Facebook) and say tell me this isn’t what is happening? I’m scared to go any further because this is where I am being led and I don’t want this to be so.
This is one of those books where you fall out of your own reality and get lost in the reality of Eva and Gabriel, their family and friends.
I cried more than once, tears streaming down my face as the book took one turn, then I would find myself laughing out loud as my children looked at me like I was crazy. The book, it’s the book.
Such an amazing read. When I get done reading a book by Annie Rose Welch, I have this feeling of being honored to be part of this world, if only for the time that I am reading. Her talent is amazing. The way she writes is so poetic, melodic, the highs and lows are perfectly written. I cannot wait to see what is coming next from Annie Rose Welch. She is absolutely one of my most favorite authors and one whose books I will never miss. She is a talent that I wish that everyone would find.
Thank you so very much for my copy of Sparrow Way, I will cherish it along with the rest of the series as I find time to reread all five books. So beautiful!
This is the story of a love that is endless, timeless and this emanates from the page and pours from the soul. A love that grows more infinitely with each day and moment. We see a love that is intimate, passionate and consuming. We see that Gabriel and Evangline's love is a compass for Gabriel and an anchor for her. A beautiful love that has the strength and support from the lovers who are best friends and each other's everything. His wife is his peace, his world and the one who calms and guides him. His best friend and lover. Evangeline is the only place where home is for Gabriel. The description of the wedding with fireflies is so so gorgeous and has you smile at its brilliance. The birth of Noah show sacrifice and joy.
This story is about a love that transcends time and life. Is hauntingly beautiful and inspirational. A strikingly gorgeous story of love and life. With each sentence Gabriel's love for Evangeline is felt and seen The feelings jump off the page and capture you in this beautifully written story of Gabriel and eva's life together and love for each other. The joy of their life had heartache and sadness but through it all they leaned on each other for support, strength and guidance.
We see how they complete each other and fill each other with joy and beauty. It is the journey of their life together in a story told by Gabriel. Each memory will wrap you up in a blanket of their love and have you feel safe in the warmth and moment and joy from the moment he is reliving. You are cocooned by their happiness and warmth and support of each other. Their story is timeless and powerful. It will have you believe in faith, joy and love. A book that should be treasured and read. A perfect poignant way to end this wonderful and amazing series.
As in the other four books, the writing and details are exquisite. I felt as if I was transported there with her descriptive writing, especially in the bayou.
It is a wild place, teaming with creatures, filled with history. Out of the algae-fertile, whiskey-colored water rise cypress trees, like thin men. Their beards of Spanish moss – lice and chigger filled – dangle just above the water, unsung secrets ensconced. Scattered about are water oaks, and it almost seems as if their reflections in the water are making funny faces back at them. Alligators regularly pop up and down, creeping in the water, pushing aside the green slush as they make their way. Most of the time only their frog-like eyes are visible.
I thought this book was the most emotional of the series. I cried, but there were also some very funny moments as well.
And then I do something no man should ever do, or one who is not well versed in the kitchen should ever do. I get cocky. I use Eva’s fancy mixing machine. Even the crewmen have mashed potatoes in their hair afterward. Eva laughs so hard she starts to cry.
This is the ongoing story of Gabriel and Eva’s love. And what a wonderful love they have!
She’s not my soul mate; that description frightens me. We are what she has always said we were – wing mates. Supporting each other, being the other’s sense of direction when one was lost; the road leading to home. A certain heightened sense has been found through her.
And several chapters into this story, Ms. Welch does something that shocked me! Never in a million years would I have seen it coming, nor have I ever seen another author do this. Once I got past my shock and tears, it was understandable as I saw how this story played out.
I absolutely loved this book. I believe this was my favorite of the series though I loved them all. I enjoyed Gabriel’s POV. You will learn more about Eva and Gabriel’s life, as well as Layla’s and Michael’s. I’m extremely sad that this series is over and will honestly miss these characters whole-heartedly. This is a must read series! You will not be disappointed!!
She narrows her eyes at me “Oh darling, I know. I’m a whole lot of strange, and together, we are a whole bunch of crazy.” She giggles. “Come on!” she yells, grabbing my sleeve, pulling me toward the dance floor. “Let’s get it on!”
