If you are ever going to buy a travel guide book I believe that the `Blue Guide' is the best there is.
The Blue Guide - Spain the very best travel guide book.
To help you on your travels this book offers maps, the whole of Spain, the Provinces, towns and cities, and over 100 routes for you to follow.
It gives plans on the historical changes as well as the ground plans; The Prada in Madrid or the Museu D'Art De Cataluña in Barcelona.
On the route guide, tells of places of interest, food and drink, history, geography and distances between places of interest. The information is accurate and knowledgeable. It will save you money by not buying individual guide books. This one book always gives me much more information, granted it may not be filled with full coloured photographs that you would get in a local book but everything you would want to know is there.
It offers advice for the traveller on accommodation, eating and drinking, public services and working hours. It highlights places of interest.
Distances are measured in Km so if you are not familiar with them take a conversion chart.
There is practical information on money, passports, security, embassies, transport, postal and telecommunications.
General menu options are translated as well as a basic vocabulary.
The book also looks at climate and customs.
Even if this editions is not an 'up to date' version it still offers so much information that I would not travel without it.
If I was to make a negative comment I might say they can be a bit on the heavy (weight) side when we are all trying to shrink the size of the suitcase contents, hence the four stars.
