Product Description

Product Description

In July and early August of 1971, NASA embarked on an ambitious and challenging lunar mission - the journey of Apollo 15 to the Hadley-Apennine region. This programme tells the amazing story of Apollo 15 through compelling sounds and images of the film and television record of the mission. From training on the Lunar Rover to the first live liftoff from moon, you'll be there for each moment of the TV downlink and each foot of onboard motion picture film. Included are the raw television transmissions from the flight to the moon, all three moonwalks, plus the lunar liftoff, Trans-Earth EVA, in-flight press conference and more. This set also contains multi-angle views of liftoff and coverage of recovery through the statements of the crew on the carrier deck. You'll discover Hadley Rille as you've never seen it before.

A very comprehensive exploration of the mission from start to finish. Digitally restored and cleaned up footage from lots of sources (much directly from NASA) means that you get to see whats happening so much clearer than 95% or more of the other titles out there. It's not cut into visual soundbites so you get to see the whole mission, but that means there is a lot to go through. If you are interested in the subject these are the titles you should go for. The cost can put people off but the value for money is there to see and hear. Highly recommended

This is ideal if you are looking for all the raw original footage from Apollo 15. Like all the Spacecraft films titles these are the released archived footage.
Many people will be looking for a detailed documentary on the mission with commentary. This is not what you will get. There is no commentary and it is unedited. If you are a purest then this is for you. It contains hours and hours of the original unspoiled reels. There are often multiple audio tracks allowing you to select whether you want to hear the astronauts and/or mission control and sometimes multiple camera angles - especially from lainch cameras.

plenty of material, quite a large proportion is audio only with photo pans where available, as a result its like having it live on radio while I'm doing something else. Great descriptions of the moon as they explore.

Another one of the many amazing DVD sets from Spacraftfilms. Perfect for any space enthusiasts and anyone interested in Apollo and the moon landings. Apollo 15 was the first J mission and first mission to use the Lunar Rover. Video quality is pretty good considering the time period as well as the sound quality. I own 4 of the sets and planning on buy the rest of the sets. Definitely a good investment. You won't find this much footage on any other DVDs.

I can add but little to the other reviews published. Only that this set took me back almost 40 years and made a dream come true: Having each and every of the footage that was shown during this mission. The absence of any journalistic comments is a bonus. After a few seconds, you feel as if this happens live here and now. I can recommend downloading and printing the full voice transscripts from the NASA pages on the Apollo program. This will asist where the dialowgue is unclear or to pout you better in the picture. But for your first view, just look and listen and marvel! Unreservedly recommended for anybody seriously interested in the Apollo Missions.
