His Southern Temptation is the second book in Robin Covington's The Boys are Back in Town series which revolves around four friends - Jackson, Lucky, Teague and Beck. While it isn't essential to read the first book, A Night of Southern Comfort, before you read this book I would recommend it because it is nice to follow all of the characters from the beginning. Jackson completely won my heart in the first book and I have to admit that I didn't think Lucky would be able to beat him but I'm happy to say that he swooped in and knocked me off my feet! I absolutely loved him and I thoroughly enjoyed his story.
Lucky is the perfect guy, he's protective, smart, strong, funny, caring, sexy and dynamite in bed. Taylor is one lucky girl to have captured his heart! He has spent years loving Taylor from a distance but now he's back for good and he wants them to build a life together. He is so charming I don't know how Taylor was able to hold out for so long, I know I'd have caved into his demands within minutes. I love a good friends to lovers story so while this was slightly different because they've been lovers on and off for years it was still just what I was looking for. The chemistry between them was scorching hot, seriously if you thought Jackson and Michaela's story was sexy you've not seen anything yet and these two burn up the pages. I did find myself getting slightly irritated with Taylor for holding out so long and for the way she kept changing her mind but considering her background and the way her parent's marriage has been such a bad example it wasn't too surprising she was skittish.
It was great to catch up with Jackson and Michaela and get to know both Teague and Beck a bit better. I'm not sure who's book is up next but I'm guessing Teague and I think it's going to take a special kind of woman to melt his reserved exterior. I have a feeling that when he finds the one he's going to completely lose his inhibitions though and I think he might just turn out to be the dark horse of the group. This is definitely a must buy series for me, I love the banter between the friends, the small town atmosphere full of colourful side characters and the scorching hot romances. If you're a fan of contemporary romance then this is a series you don't want to miss.
There aren't enough adjectives to describe David 'Lucky' Landon. He's an unbelievably sexy, witty, kind and protective ex-marine and after his hectic life yearns for a quiet settled life. Taylor, his best friends baby sister is feisty, determined and stubborn but following her parent's marriage break up believes all relationships are destined to end painfully. Lucky has been her secret horizontal dance partner for years; she sees him as familiar and safe yet exciting and uncommitted, only he is ready to settle and wants more from her. 3 weeks of fun for her. 3 weeks for him to convince her to stay. And neither has any willpower when it comes to the other...
The chemistry between them was perfect and their relationship had realistic qualities. It was tender and passionate with moments that were heartwarming and others that tugged on the heartstrings. Their bedroom/stairs/outdoor activities were simply sizzling, the banter between the boys brought great humour and the trouble Taylor finds herself in generates a nice element of suspense. I laughed, I swooned and I made many of those 'sighs' that we romantic women are prone to when we are a little bit in love. This really is a book deservant of all 5 stars and I look forward to what treats Robin Covington has in store for us with Teague and Beck's stories.
This book was so much better than the first. I loved Lucky as a character and thought that Taylor was a good match for him.
The scenes from this story sizzled and the romance was brilliant, you had the tug of war, the realisation and the pure happiness of them both.
This book as a joy to read with all the 'hot' bits enough to light a fire in almost everyone.
