I was looking forwards to read this book. Fist of all I was really surprised when I received because it is really small. It is around 170 pages, 100 of which are about general information. More than 20 pages are on wildlife. Fine. But they contain very basic information (a page to describe what a lion is and so on) and no actual connection with the country - ie no explanation about exaclty how to find those animals in real life in South Sudan.
Only 70 pages are used to cover South Sudan (which is according to what they write the same size as France)which gives an idea of the kind of detailed information it contains: a city with a paragraph to describe it plus a short paragraph where it condens all together: where to eat/where to sleep with a couple of suggestions each.

I expected much more.

HASH(0x93ab9cf0) out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK 22 April 2015
By Thomas Banks - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
This guide book is poorly written. Most of the information is outdated before it was even published due to the rapidly changing situation in South Sudan and the present civil war. It is obvious that much of the information was obtained 2nd or even 3rd hand. Do not waste your money buying this book. I work in South Sudan and know this book will be of little value to the visitor to South Sudan.

It is so hard to find information on this turbulent area of the world that this is wonderful. Bradt is a known name in travel guides and my library is happy to have this book.
