cracking new map from harvey, covering the eastern side of loch ness,an area of outstanding beauty, incredibly quiet roads and a feeling that this is what scotland used to be like 70 years ago.im a local and know many parts of these routes and they wont dissapoint in the main, though there are a few quibbles-why doesnt the SLNW start/terminate in the logical place,Fort Augustus, for example, which would have seamlessly joined it with the great glen way. Also, why does the inverness end start with a dangerous road walk when there are suitable better alternatives.however,in the main this is highly recommended-this side of loch ness is vastly superior to the other side, especially for walkers and cyclists.when the great glen way was introduced i thought its total omission,in favour of the west bank and the tourist-tat trap of drumnadrochit, was scandelous;this map goes a long way towards redressing this and should be seriously considered by people looking to walk the length of the great glen
