Product Description

The SousVide Supreme ChamberVac VP112 Vacuum Sealer allows you to vacuum seal and package liquids and liquid-rich foods. Standard vacuum sealers operate by suction, meaning the air is vacuumed out of a vacuum bag and then the bag is sealed. However, along with air, liquids may also be pulled out of the bag, leaving a film of liquid or oil on the sealing edge of the bag, which can result in an incomplete or imperfect seal. The SousVide Supreme ChamberVac Vacuum Sealer uses a different technology and process. The vacuum bag is placed inside the chamber of the machine and the lid is closed. Air is sucked out of the entire chamber, not just the bag itself, allowing air pressure on both the inside and outside of the bag to remain equal and liquids to stay in the bag. The bag is then fully sealed and air is returned back into the chamber, creating a vacuum inside the bag. In addition, the SousVide Supreme ChamberVac Vacuum Sealer can reach a higher level of vacuum than standard suction vacuum packaging machines. This chamber vacuum sealer has a sleek, low profile design with a hinged lid that tucks neatly back over the machine to make it counter-top friendly. The easy to read pressure indicator and LCD panel make operation simple. Two detachable power cords included with the UK/EU model.

I previously used an external vacuum sealer which I found good for dry food, but I was unable to add marinades, sauces etc easily (freezing liquids before adding to the pouches was a way round it, though not ideal) before cooking sous vide. I have had this chamber vacuum sealer for a few weeks now and I am very pleased with it. Now I am able to be much more adventurous with cooking and enjoy eating the results! The only negative aspect is that when initiating the vacuum the lid needs a little downwards pressure for a second or two. As I am only 5' 2" I am not tall enough to exert pressure where required so my husband helps with this (he now has learnt that the kitchen isn't such a bad place!). However this seems to be getting less of an issue the more the machine is used

Only ever bought one chamber vacuum machine so nothing to compare it to. Settings easy to change. Some early issues with sealing bags using the sample ones provided. I had to increase the sealing time, so that's now cured. The rubber seal keeps popping up each time the unit is opened, so you have to reseat it each time, otherwise no vacuum develops.
