Unless you don't mind the fact that none of the pieces are the originals. Nor are they played by an orchestra conducted by Morricone. Nowhere in the Amazon listing was/is this stated.

Not very good. Not the original recordings. Some halof decent efforts by an orchestra but none of the vibe of the original pieces.

Although I knew that these recordings were not by the original composer and his orchestra, I have had other works by the City of Prague etc etc and have not been disappointed.

I was with this. Feeble efforts with most of the tracks, seemingly half heartedly played and very rushed. The "Five Man Army" main title is particularly bad.

Straight to the charity shop I think.

Very poor.

If you are new to the music of Ennio Morricone then this isn't bad, if you have a good knowledge of his music then this is a huge disappoinment. The interpretation of his music performed on these discs is a poor effort in comparison to any other that i have heard. Many changes have been made to the music and not for the better. I cannot fault the seller however, the service was good.

This is okay.
I collect different versions of film soundtracks and themes.
Occasionally i come across a cover version that is better (In my view) than the original.
Perhaps i should say a version that i prefer, not necessarily better.
There is some nice versions on this disc and i think it is worth the money.
good but not great.

A note that the recordings on this CD are superb. Faithful to the originals and by a very fine orchestra. Many lesser known pieces are included, such as the theme from The Red Tent and The Sicilian Clan. The recording quality is better than the original soundtracks. Of course if you are a fanatic you will want the originals as well (and I happen to own all the original scores represented on this recording), but even a fanatic will like this set and someone who wants a good compilation will find this one to be pretty well perfect.
