Although imprisoned in the dungeons of DWMA, the witch Medusa is still able to manipulate everyone and offers Shinigami-sama an offer he cannot refuse. The resulting operation sees Maka and her friends into the heart of Arachnophobia's base Baba Yaga Castle. Meanwhile Kim and Jackie find out that their choices have lead them into trouble.
This twelfth volume of the 'Soul Eater' manga sets things up nicely for the conclusion of the Arachnophobia arc. With the exception of a brief skirmish with a mutant squid that allows Medusa to show what she can do, there is little in the way of action in this volume as it mostly sets things up for the battles to come in future volumes. The volume includes some very funny moments throughout however and there are also some very nicely done character moments for both Maka and Ox Ford. The volume also introduces a new, and eccentric, Death Weapon.
The volume also includes the usual bonus comic and brief translation notes as well as some congratulations on getting an anime adaption.
Overall this volume of 'Soul Eater' was mostly setup for what is to come but it is still very entertaining and worthy of a full five stars.
