The Sopranos follows Tony Soprano. He tries to be a good family man to his wife, kids and widowed mother, and as a capo in the New Jersey mob. The best ever TV series, in my opinion. Great to finally get it on Blu-Ray.

Product is badly let down by the cheapest, sub standard box ever. Cheap flimsy cardboard, and the discs just fall out all over the place.

A TV series of this quality deserves better. I’d have happily paid extra for a steelbook with proper disc holders.

I was sceptical of the negative reviews of this box set. It is abysmal.

First off let me say I love The Sopranos and for me so far, every disk is working fine and is of good quality. That aspect it's 5 stars and if you want to see The Sopranos and have the disks like myself by all means buy it.

However the box set here is absolute garbage.. it is literally cardboard that the disks slot into, and most of the slots are ripped so the discs are just loose and all over the place. You want to get the next disk out the boxset? open it up and 3 disks fall out and one is backwards in the wrong slot and another has fell through its slot and got wedged in cardboard. It is absolute rubbish. Pathetic for such a quality TV show. I'd give it 1 star but the content is good I think I will just put the into CD cases.

Great series, badly let down by the packaging which is disgracefully shoddy. Disks easily fall out, and equally easily misplaced - the series number is tiny compared the number-in-series. Just found out I've missed a whole disc from Series Three! No episode list on the disks, either.

The packaging of the box set of Breaking Bad shows how it should be done, not this feeble excuse. Frankly shocked that Sopranos was allowed out in such a piece of tat.

1 Star is not a reflection of the excellent series, it is of two things, 1, the blu rays don’t have a memory, so if you press stop they won’t recall where you left of when hitting play, it’s a real pain, if you press stop it returns to the home screen!
2: my sealed pack was missing 2 dicscs ! Can you believe it !
Avoid like the plague and find another distributor of this great series as this one sucks, the packaging is awful, the discs don’t fit well and fall out.
Being a heavy buyer of blu ray discs this is the pits, it’s going back to Amazon.

Your mileage may vary with which version you receive, but the version I got didn't contain any plastic cases, instead containing all the discs in a couple of fold out cardboard sleeves that are decorated with nice big photos focusing on the various characters. While this gives the package a much smaller form factor it also means the discs can /very/ easily fall out when you try to access them (they're probably a little bit more prone to being scratched this way too). Even if it took up a larger size, I'd have been much happier with proper plastic cases. The discs themselves are region free and have quite a bit of special content on them. Misgivings about the way the discs are stored aside, if you're looking to own the series this is the definitive package.

“What did I tell you? Don’t think! Do as I say!” [Tony Soprano to Chris, season 5]

This Tv series was made between 1999 to 2007 and follows crime boss Tony Soprano who’s hitting a mid life crises. Having set up home in Tony’ swimming pool, a family of geese fly away bringing on a blackout for Tony. Remaining un-diagnosed, Tony is referred to a psychiatrist. The story unfolds through various events which are then often retold through Tony’ POV to the psychiatrist.
This stout card box set features a lift off lid and contains seven ‘standard’ sized DVD cases, each of which contains 4 DVDs. All six series are included [series 6 is actually in two parts] and while some have ‘extras’ these are limited to commentary voice overs on about a quarter of the episodes. There is also a neat booklet that gives a brief overview of each episode. Confusingly, episode lengths vary, especially in the first two series. Similar in many respects to ‘Weeds’ this has the lead character become something of an anti-hero.
Rated 18 this has plenty of swearing, violence, topless nudity, occasional full frontal [from season 4?] but despite this, it’s all much less than the publicity would suggest. Personally I preferred series 1-3, which centred around Tony’ impending breakdown. Series 4 introduced other relationship issues, 5 descends into drug dealing/usage and dream states while 6 [pt1] seems to go nowhere and 6 [pt2] returns to the original. I actually liked the ending, you need to listen to the lyrics and note the subtle volume changes and if you’d paid attention to the psychiatric meetings you should be able to ‘get it’.

This review is NOT a review of The Sopranos TV series itself, but of this particular product (the series is one of the true masterpieces of TV history and it gets 5 stars from me). The way that this collection is packaged is quite beyond the pale. I don't think I've ever seen such a flimsy box, which was competely bent out of shape by the time it arrived. Worse though, was the state of the disks inside. They are supposed to be held in place using slits cut in equally flimsy cardboard but, of course, at least half of them had come free and were rattling around inside. I've no idea if any of them were damaged in the process but I don't want to get to middle of season 4 to find out. I understand that, in our move away from plastic packaging, alternatives have to be found, but manufacturers are going to have to have to do better than this. I'll be returning this for a refund.
