The illustrations look like me and my boyfriend, the book is smaller then I thought it was which makes it better as its super cute, I'd say A5 (??) I had a little read before I got it him for christmas, he loved it as much as I did and a lot of the illustration really looked like things we'd done and things we'd say. Although, if you're single this is still lovely. Printed perfectly, everything perfect and so cute! I might buy one for myself.

I gave it to my other half as a valentine's day present, as I'd often pointed out Philippa Rice's drawings as being reminiscent of our life together. He's not a soppy person at all but I have discovered it left open on his desk on various occasions so I think it's safe to say it's won him over. I like how it tells the story of a relationship through simple moments, without needing to use a complicated story line. It's all very easy to relate to and sweet.

I'll be darned but I'm not quite sure what the underlying business model is for books that are collections of otherwise free newspaper and web comics. But, as dozens of "Dilbert" and "Peanuts" and "Calvin" and similar books make clear, there is an almost boundless market for such books. (To be fair and complete, this book is not just a collection. While it includes all of the Soppy comics it also consists of, in Ms. Rice's words, "loads more that you've never seen".)

Wait, I may have the answer to the collection question. If you look at one or two of these strips in isolation they can often not make much of an impression. Popular web comics and strips seem to be based on the reader's familiarity with the characters, the reader's patience, the reader's willingness to follow an extended bit of storyline to its conclusion, and the reader's willingness to read the strips that set up the payoff. That seems even more true for strips that are more along the lines of gentle character pieces than actual funny-pages material.

And so, that's what struck me here. A few pages in I thought that this was perfectly nice, very quiet, sort of obvious, and a bit shallow either as drawing or as a story. But of course I was wrong. As you follow these strips and as you connect the little calm bits and pieces the project starts to come together into a whole that develops real depth and impact. That actually has a touching romantic heart.

And that's where a collection comes in. I don't know if you can get that aha! impact reading a page a day or a page every other day. But, you can sit down in a quiet place with this book and as you go through it page by page it builds up and comes together.

While there is, as other reviewers have pointed out, not really a story to this book, there was so much in there that was recognizable in my own relationship. It just portrays two people in love and little moments from day to day life. Really sweet and heart warming cartoons.

One word to sum up this book? Adorable.

It manages to accurately convey the everyday key moments that define relationships, mostly conveying it through pictures and with very few words / text - an admirable achievement! It reminded me in places of the "love is..." comic series only more subtle because it doesn't outright say "Love is cosying up together on the couch" - it just shows it.

I loved the drawing style with the characters having cute rosey cheeks and the minimalistic black-white-red color scheme worked really well. Loads of the drawings would make awesome stand-alone posters or wall art.

I also loved the subtle, sweet humor that gently permeated through the book that brought on a smile or a chuckle on occasion.

This is a book I'd definitely recommend to a few of my comic-loving, romantic-at-heart friends. It's a fun, cute, quick, uplifting read with a lot of heart.

This is ridiculously cute and something that everyone can relate to.

I've bought this for my boyfriend for his birthday and we're looking to buy our first place together soon and this book helps take away the stress of life, makes you look at all the cute and little things that each other does and to appreciate it even more.

I love it!
