I recently purchased a 32Gb sd card for my Motorola Defy so I could use it for my music, and it seemed logical to also buy a bluetooth speaker. After an evening's perusal of Amazon, I decided to go for this one.
There are a couple of points worth making about it, not really niggles, but handy to know beforehand: Firstly the device is mains-operated only, and the lead is quite short (there is also a transformer unit between the speaker and plug). Also, the USB is for charging only, it does not communicate.
Connecting it to my phone was no problem, the sound is fine with a pleasing room-filling quality, and the bass is good enough to handle a bit of dub reggae, although not at high volume. Like pretty much all speakers that are not massively expensive, the sound distorts if you crank it up too much. As I don't hold illegal raves in my kitchen this is fine, however it is loud enough to annoy the neighbours.(if you have them)
I really like the styling too: kind of death star under construction. My 3 year-old, however, thought it was a toy and rolled it around on the floor when I wasn't looking. It survived admirably, so the build quality must be ok.
One slightly weird thing is that it seems to get dusty really quickly. Perhaps it's ionisation or something (or maybe it's just because I'm a scummer).

So I bought this speaker because I wanted to listen to music throughout the home rather than just through a set of headphones or laptop speakers, and I am SO glad that I did.
First things first- I bought it from Amazon for under half the asking price on the official Sony website and I received it on the day Amazon said I should, so Yippee for Amazon!
Now to the product.
The speaker itself looks stunning. A sleek, elegant design which wouldn't look out of place on the set of the movie 2001 A Space Odyssey- though the white version would suit it best (I ordered the black).
The build quality of this item is of the usual high-end Sony standard, and the weight of it denotes the quality of the materials used to craft this beast.
It connects via bluetooth to your phone, mp3 player or laptop/desktop computer, so long as these devices are bluetooth capable that is, but if not, then there is a 3.5mm audio input socket to overcome your tech's shortcomings.
The sound this speaker creates is simply beautiful. It's crisp, clear, punchy without trying too hard, and a whole bunch of other words and phrases that describe high-quality sound that I can't actually think of right now.
Obviously stereo sound is out of the equation here being that the speaker is just a single unit, and buying more than one of these speakers doesn't mean you can change that either (no function to connect them up as a pair I'm afraid!), but the quality of the sound produced by this lone wolf should be enough to appease even the staunchest audiophile.

I spent about 5 hours checking out different bluetooth speakers with a friend of mine from Canada when he was passing through the UK. This one, we both decided was the very best value for money. Though for some reason he thought the £259 Bose speaker was worth the money I didn't, and have been very happy with this Sony speaker which served me excellently over the Xmas period, with many friends commenting on the excellent sound from an apparently invisible source. I'm probably going to be buying a second to use with my laptop when travelling. Usual Sony quality and at some Amazon prices almost 40% less than Sony stores.

This is a fantastic product with exactly the features I was looking for. Some people are confused about what this product is - this is a bluetooth speaker that is used to output audio streaming from a bluetooth enabled device (eg phone, tablet or computer). It is MAINS powered and you must have a socket close by; there is no battery in this device. The USB charge facility is brilliant as it allows you to connect your phone (or other device) to the speaker and charge the phone. You can do this while the speaker is on or off, and you don't have to charge the device that you are listening via bluetooth to - it could be any device. It is NOT a charge facility to connect the speaker to a computer (or USB mains charger) so that the speaker is charged - it has no batteries, therefore it would not make sense to charge the device itself. Audio quality is really good, and there is a bass boost which gives an excellent bass sound. I use this along with a phone stand on my bedside table to make a speaker dock; so in the morning my phone is fully charged, I have a bedside alarm and I have great quality audio for heading off to sleep. Price is expensive though and don't think it's worth the RRP of £149!

Specifications need to be read carefully. Don't do the same mistake as I. That when it said Wireless and USB charging it did not mean that has a built in battery as it's sibling RDP-V20iP. Which has a internal battery with a 5-hour play-back time. The USB charge function is to charge other appliances and not the speaker. Otherwise I can't fault this speaker hence the Bluetooth connectivity is excellent, and makes it more versatile than the RDP-V20iP version where you have to dock the device onto the speaker.
