I use a Sony Xperia Z as my mobile music device and I needed a Bluetooth headset for use when out and about. The headset is comfortable in use and whilst cycling, walking and listening to books and music on the go. That was not the only reason for this purchase. I also use my Xperia Z for mobile telephone and satellite navigation when riding my motorbike and it provides clear navigation instructions, clear phone calls and of course the music I wanted on the move. It has been subjected to rain, sun and worked perfectly (once you get the hang of pairing it). I am also getting about 5 to 6 days use on 1 charge on this basis.
Great product.

Received this only this morning so this is by no means any long term review.

It's sounds fantastic. I'm getting even more volume and more bass than through my previous, wired connected, Sony Livesound MH1c phones that were a £60 pair of flat-cable phones when I bought them. Update, just tried my older phones through the device and it definitely seems to be doing some further processing to the sound. Certainly more volume/bass. So you're getting a little headphone amp for the money here too. I'd estimate about 20-30% more in volume terms. Although the short cable phones sound marginally better. Which is good news, as part of my reason for getting this was so I didn't keep swiping ear buds out of my ears when I caught the long cable. The included buds here are decent enough. Much like many that Sony seem to include with their cell phones. Easy capable of £30 Skullcandy type performance. So maybe not for the absolute audiophile who "needs" Shure or Monster, but capable enough for what most of us want to knock about with on public transport without risking getting mugged for, or dropped in a puddle.

Although the phones don't seem to be marked up as left/right (unless it's very very small and I can't see it. I had to plug them into something else where I could move the balance to find out which was which. The longer side is for the right ear.

The NFC connection I find a bit gimmicky. Although it worked first time, establishing a Bluetooth connection isn't really an awkward process to have to go through. I'm generally a Sony fan when it comes to phones, but don't really understand why they've started to include this NFC thing to their Bluetooth speakers and products like this one. Hence why I describe it as gimmicky. But it does seem to work at least on my Xperia S.

Bought this for listening to music in bed without having to have my phone in bed with me, and it's great for that. Obviously varies in quality based on the earphones inserted, but the fact that you can use whatever earphones you want is great, as I always struggle to find comfortable earphones. Pairing is simple and quick with NFC, but just as easy connecting directly by Bluetooth without NFC negotiating the connection. The inbuilt microphone is pretty good, with no complaints from the other end of calls when I had it clipped to my tshirt or jumper's collar. Still regularly using it a year and half after purchase, so was very much a good purchase.

The sound quality is not "wow", but they get the job done, and the NFC is definitely a cool addition. The only problem is the ergonomics. It's impossible to tell where the On switch is because the whole thing is square, so you have to check each side in turn until you find the switch, and it also apparently does not have any power saving functionality.

If you disconnect from your phone (or it loses connectivity), it does not auto shut itself down. It stays on until the battery is completely drained, then the next time you want to use it, it won't work because it needs a charge.

Having used many Sony bluetooth headphones in the past, these are definitely not worthy of the quality I've come to expect from Sony. At the price I bought them (£27), I'd say look for something else.

I lost my last bluetooth device and am very pleased with this replacement. Advantages for me:

* Very light - I run a lot of 10 and 20kms and I don't notice the weight
* Adjustable clip - the clip rotates so you have the controls the best way up for you
* Physical volume button - much better than controls when out running
* Physical on/off button - much easier
* Easy pairing via NFC - just tap to you device and go

I can't say how good the included headphones are as I use my own but the sound quality is fine.

I received this item when I purchased my Sony Xperia Z Ultra. The device is just a treat. I use it to mainly make lots of calls from my device and walk around hands free. It last for hours, although one reviewer from the US site stated 4.5 hours of music.

However I have to agree with a couple of other reviewers that the supplied headphones are crap. They don't fit my ears, they hurt, and the music that does come out is tin can sounding. BUT I happily use my own headphones for calling and it's awesome. The clip sits nicely on my top, and paring takes 1 sec with my XZU and I am off ready to make calls / answer calls / listening to music etc... PLUS the mic on the device is super powerful, having it clipped on means that the other party can hear you as if you were right there next to them because the bluetooth headset provides HD voice - provided your phone and carrier allows it. Overall I give it 4 stars only because the headphones supplied with the headset belongs in the trash, other than it, you should get this item.
