Bought for the DSC-RX100M2 version of the camera this case provides secure protection for the camera and a comfortable neck strap. The ability to unclip the top half completely and put it in a pocket saves having a dangling case and leaves the strap attached. The tilting display also still functions although the ports in the side of the camera are partially covered. The HDMI connector cannot be connected and the USB cable requires the strap mounting to be bent down out of the way - its fairly tight but will work with the included USB cable. The SD and battery door on the bottom is also covered.

The downside is the price and that its fake leather although it is very well constructed and one of the few cases that fits this camera.

The item itself is very well made (after all, it is an official Sony product). It fits onto the camera absolutely perfectly with no room to spare! It is a must have in order to preserve the camera from any scrapes or scratches. Now here is the big BUT. Initially, it will be an essential item you may feel as (i call it the 'honeymoon' period) when you have anything new, you would want to keep it that way for as long as possible. But once you get into the nitty-gritty of shooting camera shots, you will quickly find that the camera case would be a major hindrance and that, like me, you would quickly take it off and let the camera go 'bare-naked'. After all the shooting, you will have to edit the photos somehow, therefore, the memory card needs to be used. And the only way to access the memory card is, yes, take off the camera case. In all honesty, my camera case was only used initially for the first 2 weeks. Thereafter, its just gathering dust. I would only recommend this item if you can be bothered with all the hassle of taking it off and putting it back together. To me, and for its price, i do feel a slight tint of regret in purchasing it.

This case for the DSC-RX100 does the job of protecting my camera, and appears to be well made.

However, it's terribly expensive. It also transfers the slender, pocketable camera into something that's a bit bulky. It's also fiddly to use. It dangles irritatingly when the front bit is attached with the popper.

The general quality of this case isn't bad but I have a couple of gripes.

Firstly, the tripod boss at the bottom of the case is so large and off centre it is impossible to stand the camera up to take a photo whilst it is in the case.

Secondly, the fit isn't great and the case adds a fair amount of bulk to an otherwise great camera.

It's a shame Sony don't spend as much time on their accessories as they do their cameras.

I bought this case after using the LCJ-RXA for 18 months (on my RX100 Mk1). Though it says it will fit both cameras you can see it's been modified to take the articulatng screen of the Mk2. The quality is excellent and the snug fit protects the camera well. However, now that both ports are on the side of the camera, it's a shame you can only access the Multi port. You'd need to take the bottoom half off to get to the HDMI socket. I've always liked the way you can just unbutton the bottom and start shooting and it's always hanging there ready for the next photo opportunity. A word of warning though; be sure to double strap through ALL FOUR of the loop holders. If you just use the two rubber holders IT WILL slip through with usage and your expensive purchase will drop like a stone.

fitted today, looks the part and gives a great vintage feel.
the important bit. itll definately protect for minor hits and knocks but dont drop it. i doubt this will save your camera that much.

also fitted the filter kit for the sony rx100 MKII and the case closes fine. (without a filter attached)

I would have given this camera case 5 stars had it been either; 1. made of leather or, 2. been a lot cheaper. It fits the Sony RX100 II perfectly and provides a good deal of protection for such an expensive camera. However, given that it is made of synthetic materials the price I paid of £59.99 is way over the top.

Price aside, the plus point for me - but maybe not for others - is that you can wear the camera round your neck whilst taking photos. A lot better than relying on a wrist strap whilst gripping the camera, as a friend of mine found out to his cost as he tripped up whilst using the camera. The wrist strap prevented him dropping the camera but it still smashed itself against the floor as he automatically put out his hand to break the fall.

I must admit I thought this was an extremeley expensive case. However I did spend over £300 on the camera so buying a case to protect it was a priority. I have to say this case is a quality product, which compliments the camera and protects supebly.
It is sturdy and because it is in two halves gives you access to the camera while maintaing the strap round your neck.
So in conclusion an exellent "quality" product that will protect and enhance my camera.
