It does exactly what you’d expect out-of-the-box; little to no need for customising and configuring the device, albeit, format settings.
It being the predecessor to the A7CII, it doesn’t come with the latest and greatest customisations but it is more than suitable for novice and intermediate photographers and videographers.
However, I would much rather purchase a A6000 or A6400 and use the remainder (and whatever one may have budgeted for a lens) to purchase a fantastic lens. A camera body can only do so much, unless it’s an A7IV or a ZV-E1 (with their superior image stabilisation).

Nicht ohne Grund gilt die A7III als eine der beliebtesten Kameras im Sortiment von Sony und nun haben sich die Ingenieure gedacht, quetschen wir diese doch in das Gehäuse einer A6XXX und machen es etwas hübsch.
Ob diese Symbiose sinnvoll ist, wo die Stärken und Vorteile liegen, aber auch an welcher Stelle man kompromissbereit sein muss, dass habe ich in meiner Rezension zusammengefasst.
Wie eingangs erwähnt ist die Sony A7III eine der beliebtesten Kameras im Portfolio von Sony und trotzdem gibt es auch einige, denen die A7III zu groß und martialisch daherkommt. So hat sich zb. meine Partnerin vehement geweigert mit der Kamera zu fotografieren und das obwohl ihr bewusst war das die A7III "die schönsten" Bilder von all unseren Kameras macht. "Zu groß, zu schwer, zu männlich", das waren ihre Worte und all meine Argumente schienen nutzlos.
So und nun hat Sony sich gedacht, machen wir die A7III doch einfach, bei gleicher Performance, kleiner, leichter und etwas schicker, und ja das macht durchaus Sinn, und ja das hat in meinen Augen auch seine Berechtigung, zeigt Sony doch wieder einmal eindrucksvoll das Vollformat nicht gleichzeitig auch groß und schwer bedeuten muss.
Beim auspacken dachte ich, wow sieht die Kamera gut aus, mal nicht nur schnödes schwarz, die belederung im Golfball-Design gefällt ungemein gut und irgendwie ist alles so ganz anders wie ich es bisher von Sony kannte und doch auch irgendwie gewohnt, nur halt in schick.
Leider bleibt Sony aber auch bei der C, ihrem Motto "maximale Performance, der Rest ist nicht so wichtig" treu. Und so gibt es ein paar Details welche mir persönlich nicht so gut gefallen.
Zum einen ist das der An/Aus Schalter und Video Button. Beide bestehen aus lackiertem Kunststoff und die Verarbeitung ist gelinde gesagt, peinlich 😬 Aber ok, eloxiertes Aluminium hätte hier wahrscheinlich das Budget gesprengt, genau wie das fehlende Ladegerät, aber das kennen wir Sony Nutzer ja bereits von der A7III 😉
Des Weiteren ist der Sucher (ja es war kein Platz und wir können froh sein das überhaupt ein Sucher verbaut ist) nicht mehr wie eine Notlösung. Zu klein und zu wenig Vergrößerung wie ich finde. Aber ich habe halt auch einige andere Kameras zum vergleichen da. Jemand der bisher mit einer Kamera ohne Sucher fotografiert hat, den wird der kleine Sucher wahrscheinlich nicht stören und ja, man kann den Sucher auch nutzen, und ja, gerade bei Sonnenschein ist er nicht vollkommen nutzlos. Gut finde ich die Anordnung des Sucher am Rand des Gehäuses, da dadurch die Nase nicht dauernd das Display berührt. Bei der A7III war genau das immer ein Problem und ich habe diese fettigen Abdrücke auf dem Display sowas von gehasst, dass könnt ihr euch nicht vorstellen 🤣
Apropos Display, dass ist zwar das gleiche, niedrig auflösende, wie bei der A7III, aber bei der C ist es Dreh- und Schwenkbar und ich empfinde es auch klarer und heller als an der A7III. Gerade für Vlogger und Aufnahmen aus schwierigen Positionen ist so ein Dreh- und Schwenkbares Display sehr gut geeignet und ein weiterer Vorteil dessen ist, dass man das Display beim Transport nach innen drehen kann und es dadurch geschützt ist. So kann man dich getrost einen zusätzlichen Displayschutz (Folie/Glas) sparen 👍
Thema Bedingung: Vielfach habe ich gehört das die A7c zu wenig Buttons und Einstellräder hätte. Das stimmt zwar irgendwie auch, aber ich finde, so wirkt die Kamera, eben auf Grund der wenigen Knöpfe und Räder, sehr aufgeräumt. Und mal ganz ehrlich, braucht man für jede Funktion einen eigenen Button, muss man überall Custom Funktionen drauflegen können, oder reicht es nicht auch so wie es ist und kann es vielleicht auch sein das die Zielgruppe der A7c, eben nicht die Berufsfotografen sind? Bei all der Gleichheit zur A7III, soll sich die A7c auch von dieser differenzieren und das nicht nur durch Größe und Gewicht. Eine einfach zu bedienende Kamera mit großartiger Performance, das war Sonys Ziel und das ist definitiv auch gelungen! Wer die bestmögliche Qualität bei Fotos erwartet, die A7c schick findet und sie sich auch leisten will, der erhält mit der A7c nicht nur die im Moment kleinste (optisch stabilisierte) Vollformatkamera, sondern auch eine der besten.
Zudem hat Sony der C, den Autofokus Algorithmus (inkl. Echtzeit-Tracking) der A7SIII spendiert, was die AF Performance gegenüber der A7III sogar noch einmal verbessert und das will was heißen, gehört der AF der A7III doch zu einem der besten.
Auch der Verschluss wurde bei der C komplett neu konstruiert und das ist gut so, haben sich die Berichte über frühzeitige Defekte bei der A7III in letzter Zeit leider gehäuft. Der neue Verschluss kann mechanisch nun aber "nur" noch 1/4000 sek Verschlusszeit. Das wird im real Live kaum jemand merken bzw. behindern. Und wenn doch, elektronisch ist weiterhin bis 1/8000 sek möglich.
Ein weiterer Aspekt der mir am neuen Verschluss sehr gefällt ist das Verschlussgeräusch. Es klingt jetzt dezenter und nicht mehr dieses aufdringliche "Ratsch" der A7III 😬 ...das ist für viele bestimmt uninteressant, ich jedoch mag solche kleinen Details.
Das die C nur über einen Steckplatz für Speicherkarten (SD UHS-I/II) verfügt wird den "Profis" sauer aufstoßen, aber wie gesagt, die "Profis" sind meiner Meinung nach nicht das favorisierte Klientel der C und außerdem muss man anmerken, dass die Angst vor Datenverlust zwar nachvollziehbar ist, aber ich hatte in all den Jahren noch nie einen Ausfall einer Speicherkarte und das bei ca. fünfzehn Speicherkarten die sich in Kameras, Smartphones und anderen elektronischen Geräten befinden.

Enthusiastische Hobbyfotografen die mehrmals in der Woche mit der Kamera losziehen und auch große, schwere Objektive verwenden wollen, die sollten eventuell zur A7III greifen oder zumindest erst mal ausprobieren wie sich die C mit dem Objektiv der Wahl händeln lässt. Wer aber eher am Wochenende mit der Familie, oder im Urlaub, zur Kamera greift, dann aber die bestmögliche Qualität an Fotos erwartet, der ist mit der A7c super aufgestellt. Dazu ein Objektiv wie Sigmas neues 28-70, oder das ebenfalls gute Tamron 28-75 und ihr habt eine kompakte, leichte Kombi mit der ihr für fast alle Individualitäten perfekt gerüstet seit. Klar ist das erst mal viel Geld, keine Frage, aber langfristig gesehen ist es das ganze Wert und mit der A7c kauft man nicht nur irgendeine Kamera, sondern die kleine hübsche mit Spaßgarantie 😁
Persönlichen Anmerkung…
Ich habe einige Tage mit mir gerungen ob ich die C zurückschicken soll, oder ob ich mich mit ihr und der Tatsache das sie nicht perfekt ist, arrangieren kann. Und ja ich habe die Kamera behalte, einfach weil sie eine sehr gute Ergänzung meines vorhandenen Equipment darstellt und irgendwie auch sexy ist. Jedes Mal wenn ich die C in die Hand nehme habe ich ein grinsen im Gesicht und es macht wahnsinnig Spaß damit zu fotografieren, weil es halt auch so unheimlich einfach ist damit sehr gute Fotos zu machen.
Übrigens war es problemlose möglich meine A7c bei Sony zu registrieren und damit auch die Garantieerweiterung auf 3 Jahren zu beantragen.

Sony A7III è stata la mia "main camera" negli ultimi 3 anni, e vorrei sottolineare alcune differenze che personalmente ritengo siano le più importanti, e che sicuramente vi aiuteranno a prendere la giusta decisione.
Se siete dei Vloggers o Youtubers, e state cercando una macchina compatta, in grado di offrire qualità e prestazioni di una fotocamera "professionale" , on the go, c'è poco da dire, è la fotocamera perfetta per voi ! Non esiste al mondo una macchina fotografica più compatta e con queste caratteristiche ! Non esiste !
Vantaggi rispetto alla A7III:
1) LCD completamente articolato, ereditato direttamente dall’A7S III recentemente rilasciata, che è un grande vantaggio per chi si filma da solo.
2) Real-Time Eye Autofocus e algoritmo migliore per l'autofocus : Ha esattamente lo stesso sistema di messa a fuoco della A7III, con 693 punti di rilevamento di fase che coprono il 93% del fotogramma però, con un algoritmo migliore (quello ereditato sempre dalla nuovissima A7SIII, e Real Time autofocus, che devo dire, funziona davvero egregiamente, ed è una funzione molto, ma molto, apprezzata!
3) Color science leggermente migliorata. Rispetto alla A7III i colori risultano più fedeli e più simili a quello che vede l'occhio umano, ma per chi non ha l'occhio addestrato, la differenza è pressoché inesistente.
4) Nessun limite di tempo di registrazione ! La Sony A7III ha un limite massimo di registrazione di 30 minuti, dopodiché la registrazione si ferma automaticamente, e bisogna ricordarsi di premere di nuovo il tasto REC per iniziare una nuova registrazione.
Per tutto il resto, le caratteristiche sono pressoché identiche:
- Hanno entrambe lo stesso sensore d'immagine Exmor R retroilluminato da 24.2 MPx
- Stessi intervalli ISO nativi di 100-51.200
- Stessa batteria, con la stessa lunghissima durata che è tanto apprezzata nella A7III, quindi direi più che ottimo.
- Stessa velocità di raffica(scatti continui) ,entrambi offrono scatti a raffica a 10 fps con tracking AF / AE completo, tuttavia, la Sony A7C ha un buffer leggermente più grande rispetto all’A7III, ma è davvero una cosa minima e non ve ne accorgerete nemmeno.
In sintesi, la Sony a7C, è davvero una piccola "BESTIA", che riesce a battere persino la classica A7III, una delle fotocamere più acquistate e più apprezzate al mondo, con il sistema di autofocus migliore e Real Time Eye Autofocus, con una color science leggermente migliore, con uno schermo completamente articolato e nessun limite di tempo di registrazione, ed è davvero la macchina perfetta per chi è alla ricerca di una fotocamera ideale per i VLOG e video Youtube.
Per chi invece è sempre dietro alla fotocamera, come me, preferisco ancora la Sony A7III, per 2 motivi:
1 - La A7C è davvero molto compatta, anzi, è troppo compatta, e quindi meno maneggevole, almeno lo è per me, e quindi preferisco ancora il grip della vecchia A7III
2 - A7III è molto, e sottolineo, molto più personalizzabile, in quanto molti tasti sono stati rimossi dalla A7C per renderla così piccola, e avere la possibilità di personalizzare tutte le impostazioni che mi servono alla portata di mano, senza dover entrare nei menu ogni volta, mi facilita molto il lavoro.
Se avete una A7III non vi consiglio l'upgrade, certo la A7C ha tanti punti di forza, ma manca comunque il 4k60, manca ancora il 4k a 10 bit , e visto che è una fotocamera nuova con un LCD simile a quello della A7SIII, potevano mettere anche il nuovo menu, con uno schermo completamente TOUCH, che ne dite?
Se invece è la vostra 1 macchina, vi consiglio sicuramente la A7C, non ve ne pentirete !
