I shoot a lot of video with my 7D and the sound quality on the 7D is horrible, I purchased this after reading a recommendation on reddit. I immediately noticed an increase in sound quality, all of the interviews I've shot with this have come out crystal clear with only a little hissing if there is too much background noise (which is fixable). One gripe I had is that the switches can catch on clothing and then turn off, causing all the interviews I shot to become silent pieces of rubbish. As long as you make sure all switches are where they are supposed to be, then you will be fine and dandy.

I ordered this lapel microphone yesterday following some review reading & comparing on Amazon, the next day delivery is excellent, the product itself was adequately packaged and the unit for the best part seems to fit the bill.

Here comes the 'BUT' - I was disappointed that a lapel mic came with such a short lead, as this piece of information was absent from the specification I took a gamble and sadly I now need to source an extension lead ahead of my filming tomorrow morning, adding further insult to injury this unit requires a battery which is also absent from the package - surely an naive oversight in ready to use world.

I sincerely hope the mic does the trick (once I'm able to find the extra kit to make it work for my needs) otherwise all seems a bit expensive for something clearly so lacking.

Microphone is too soft and is just about drowned out by artificial noise when used with a GoPro Hero 3, even when on the battery. Same issue when recording to PCs. I recommend you spend your money elsewhere unless using with an external recorder such as the Zoom H1 in this sort of application.

Cant remember where i bought my sony ec-719 but have had it for about 7 years and has done me proud.I am going to be replacing it as it seems a bit odd with recent recordings.I think its due to the cable being wound up and my own fault of not storing it better and has possibly broken slighty inside.However the recordings ive made with it since having it have been fantastic,and have even been onstage with bands and recorded with it.Its a great mic and quite discreet for the more secret recordings you may want to make.As im going to be buying another one asap that should be enough encouragement to buy one yourself.Some people say its too quiet when recording,maybe you should be closer to the mic.I biguth it strictly for live music recording and it does that very well,nice and clear audio.
