Wherever you Wander, Remember it All
You’d planned the trekking holiday for so long, it was hard to believe you were finally there. Standing at the foot of a magnificent mountain pass, over 3,000 metres above sea level, what you were seeing was beyond belief.
Good job you had the Handycam CX410VE ready to capture that incredible vista in crisp, clear Full HD. Especially when you saw a falcon swoop silently down from a ridge – with Balanced Optical SteadyShot you could follow its flight and keep every breathless moment in the frame.
Even better, the Handycam CX410VE tags your images with its built–in GPS. Now you can see exactly where you’ve travelled by checking your image tags –view your shooting locations on a map, then tap to play back and re–live your journeys and experiences.
And, with Wi–Fi capability*, you can beam your images to a smartphone or tablet and instantly share your adventures with friends and family online.

Jump in and Enjoy Freedom of Movement
Shooting video on the go? Whether you’re hiking up a mountain or just running along the beach, the lens unit and sensor “float” within the camcorder so everything stays steady with Balanced Optical SteadyShot. This clever technology compensates for up to 13x more camcorder shake than traditional image stabilisation.
Share Videos Online with Wi–Fi
Share the sights and sounds of your travels with friends and family back home. A Wi–Fi adapter* (sold separately) lets you send video wirelessly to your smartphone or tablet from your Handycam then share it online with the PlayMemories app. You can use your smartphone to control your Handycam too.

Remember Places with GPS
What was the name of that fearsome ridge you climbed? More importantly, where was that great little pub you found afterwards? With GPS tagging, photos and videos tell you exactly where you took them. See all your shooting locations marked on a map, then simply tap on one to play back and re–live the experience.

Fit More into Every Frame
From breathtaking wilderness to bustling street markets, be sure to fit everything into your shots. With a 26.8mm wide–angle G Lens you’ll capture a larger image area without the need to stand back – pretty handy if you’re on a mountain peak. It’s all powered by a BIONZ processor to deliver sharp, clear Full HD video and still images.
Make Light Work of Low Light
Just because daylight’s fading or the room’s dimly lit, don’t let that stop you capturing the atmosphere of your experiences. The Exmor R CMOS sensor is twice as sensitive as conventional sensors, capturing every detail even without a flash. No more grainy, fuzzy low–light images – just crisp, clear pictures with true–to–life quality.
* Wi–Fi adapter should be purchased separately, and movies should be recorded in MP4 file format for Wi–Fi movie transfer.

I did expect less noise in low light situations by now, but technology doesn't seem to have advanced as much as I'd hoped in this area. I've had good results with Neat video filter to combat this, but it's something I'd rather not have to combat. It adds to the rendering time quite considerably, which on my old PC equates to many hours for a 7 min or so file.
One thing that put this above other similarly priced camcorders for me is the audio in option. The on board 5.1 microphones do detect the running of the camera so the sound is not clean, I was so happy at this point I had made sure I had a camera with an audio in 3.5mm jack. I'm not sure if it is a reasonable expectation to expect it not to detect the running of the camera, as components have to move and everything seems to have at least some running noise. Zooming in adds a good deal to the audio noise as well.
I was impressed with the image stabilisation when zooming in from a distance (perhaps 50m?). I was able to track the subject moving along at a steady pace of approximately 10mph, it was incredibly smooth and I was holding it in my hand, not on a tripod. I've seen videos of the image stabilisation from this camera at work in a drone flying a good ways. It was great.
There's a shoe that you can attach accessories on. I plan on getting a LED light at some point. The camera attaches to a tripod with no issues. Everything is as it should be.
Battery supplied doesn't last too long if you use the camera a lot, the bigger battery costs £99 but worth it, though you can run it off the mains too.
Good indoor / outdoor performance, indoors you may need the low lux setting on.
Three mic's to the front and creates dolby digital so gives you surround when you route it to the tv via the 5.1 amp's front jacks, voices come through fairly loud and very clear... zoom on this camera is fantastic, do wish the optical zoom was longer reaching though, all the same it also has a stereo mic socket that works with many of the stereo mics from previous cameras, needs a plug in power type external stereo microphone, and with that you can add a 3.5mm stereo plug to socket extension cord for more mic cable if needed.
For accesories the sony website is worth a visit, but tripods... you can use any that fit DSLR cameras or other video cameras as tripods are a universal fit.
Pack comes with HDMI for tv, and USB lead which can also charge it, but charges faster off the mains power pack.
