The newly redesigned PlayStation 3 is smaller and lighter than ever before; packed with all the gaming fun you'd expect from PlayStation but in a brand new case!
By redesigning the internal design architecture, and removing the disc-fed tray and replacing it with a sliding top-loading disk cover, the PS3 Super Slim is reduced in size by up to 25% compared to the current Slim PS3.
The PS3 12GB Super Slim is a home entertainment system in a discreet and sleek console that allows you to play Blu-Ray Discs, DVD's, Music CD's and watch TV through the BBC, ITV and Channel 4 iPlayer (Internet connection required).
Included in the box you'll find:
- PS3 12GB Super Slim Console CECH-4003A
- Wireless Dualshock 3 Controller
- AC power cord
- AV cable
- USB cable

There is however one (not exactly sure if it's big or not) urrrr "problem"? with the system. The block on the back where the power cable plugs in seems to be loose and can be jiggled around and I have no idea whether this is normal or not, I've heard reports saying it's not normal and others saying it is. It doesn't seem to drop the power or anything and doesn't cause any issues but just a warning if you do get it and have this problem you might want to monitor it carefully to see if it starts doing anything dodgy. In general if you keep it constantly plugged in it shouldn't cause a problem. The connection it's self seems very tight so the cable isn't going anywhere, possibly it's just a moulding flaw.
The flash memory responds just fine while loading and saving, the console itself is maybe a little louder than the Slim especially when reading the disc, but not annoyingly so.
The chasis is solid enough, nothing rattles or bends, the drive door is sturdy. Upgraded mine to 500GB using a basic WD hard drive and the mounting bracket, both of which you need to buy separately. The upgrade is hassle free, and gives you a full 500GB PS3 which performs as well as any of the other models.
I would recommend this particularly to anyone who hasn't owned a PS3 previously, it's more affordable but just as reliable.
Overall a good system and if like me you have lots of games and do not want to upgrade to the new system than this an ideal purchase. Just a quick mention on Sony support - there is not any. I tried to deactivate my old PS3 which no longer works and support suggests turning on the old ps3 and doing it from the playstation menu. Hello - it does not turn on!
