This has to have been one of the longest awaited DVD releases ever. With the withdrawal of the TV show being aired everywhere as of about 1997, Fans of Sonic The Hedgehog have long awaited a DVD release of the episodes, as they are in all ways, pure animated genius - not just for the younger ages by the way. The show contains a lot of child-oriented fun, but also a deeper, darker storyline for the older ages. For the enthusiast such as myself, the voice acting is superior to many other childrens shows, and the animated detail did not deteriorate as the series progressed, like many other shows do just to save time and money.
For those who are confused by which show I mean, I am talking about the SatAM show of Sonic, which was the number one reason why Archie comics feature the characters such as Princess Sally, Bunny and the like. Sonic SatAM created these characters in this wonderful series. Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, which was released about the same time as Sonic SatAM, features Scratch, Grounder and other small characters, and that show had a more cartoon look to it compared to this show.
The series was suddenly brought to a halt, after a cliffhanger ending at series 2, and no more episodes were made. There were rumors of a possible third series, but nothing has happened. Finally, these amazing episodes have been released onto this DVD!
...But not all of them. The DVD quotes 4 episodes, where there are really 5 (one hidden), but these are not episodes 1-5. They are random episodes taken from the first series, supposedly the "best" episodes. DiC were going to release further DVDs based on the sales of this one, but this idea has been thwarted as they didn't get permission from Beuna Vista to release this DVD in the first place, and now they are annoyed and won't allow more episodes. That is, at this time.
The quality of video and sound is excellent, boasting a Stereo track and standard 4:3 aspect ratio. I say excellent, as these episodes were broadcast in Mono sound and with very poor video quality at the time. Good to see them in their full glory.
There is one more downside to this DVD (with the first being only half the episodes in random order). The menu screen of the DVD is littered with Inspector Gadget for some very annoying reason: HELP FEATURES on how to use the DVD.
That little annoyance aside, these episodes are very enjoyable to revisit, and people who haven't watched Sonic SatAM before will also find these episodes enjoyable. The more people who buy this DVD, the bigger the chance more episodes will be released! The quality of episodes in these DVDs however, is enough to get you to buy them anyway.
Have fun, and long live Sonic the Hedgehog!

i got this dvd, mainly to test my region free dvd player, see what the subtitles said for each episode, since there isn't any on the US or UK,and to see the pointless and hilariously bad inspector gadget dvd tutorials in high quality. Apart from that, this dvd is quite obsolete, unless you want a short dvd to give you a sample of the series.
The episodes on the disc are:
.Super Sonic
.Sonic and Sally
.Sonic Racer
& Sonic & the Secret Scrolls if you win the trivia game
