Really great album if you are a surf fan, or if you never heard something like that.I based that on fact that many people in my country who don't know much about surf react extremly positive. Lot of good bass parts and wonderfull upbeat expirience can really pleasure you at this one. This masterpiece also contain a few lyric songs which made it more interesting. And of course I can't forget to mention very good role of Peter Buck and Scott McCaughey who are more then a great guests for any artists.
This is definitly my best buy recently and I warmly recommend it you.

The album has a much darker sound to it than early surf and is less torn up with the simple sort of bluesy I-IV-V progression, making the tracks all sounding very different from one another. (A problem with early surf I find is so much of it sounds very samey.) Even if you're not into surf you might like this as the instrumentals are very atmospheric: an often comparison is to Ennio Morricone, who produced all the spaghetti western soundtracks.

Oh and the vocal songs are more like poetry read over the instrumentals than pop songs, which isn't a bad thing as this isn't a pop band.

This is probably the band's best CD so if you've heard them already and like get it. If you haven't read it may I recommend looking up one of their videos on Youtube. :)

This is a phenomenally good surf-rock guitar album, by a great band who come from Croatia. I saw the Bambi Molesters live in a bar in Berlin and have been smitten by them ever since. They are jaw-droppingly good, this album is extremely cool in an old-school way, it's mellow, languid, sexy and if you own it you will find yourself playing it over and again. I've bought many copies to give as presents to friends and everyone lucky enough to have got one loves it and reports that they also play it incessently. Do yourself a favour and buy this album, you absolutely won't regret it. The cover art is cool too.

HASH(0xa0352f48) out of 5 stars Who'd of thunk? 9 Dec. 2009

One of the best surf instrumental albums I've ever heard comes from a Croation band with, I have to say, a pretty creepy name by American standards. Maybe Bambi means something else in the Balkans. Though even then... OK, I'm digressing.

The point is, this is an extremely well-made and slickly produced album that combines some great guitar work with some excellent songwriting. It creates a mood of a lonely Mexican beach at dusk and transports you there. Actually, I may have to listen to this album right now because I'm currently snowed in and could use the break with reality.

Bottom line: buy it.

HASH(0xa03559e4) out of 5 stars Simply Spectacular 23 Aug. 2003

Spectacular music from a great band. It is hard to pick any single song, but I really enjoy "Corazón Del Loco Jorge" and "Ice & Pinewood Trees". For those who get a chance, definitely go to see them live.

HASH(0xa03558e8) out of 5 stars Essential for the instro surf or Bambis fan 25 Aug. 2014

This release features some really quality polished recording efforts and is a valuable follow-on to their re-mastering of Loud Dumb Hollow Twang Deluxe. There is a rousing version of Bombora (the Surfaris song, not to be confused with song of the same name by The Atlantics), along with a great original from Dalibor called Final Wave of the Day. The latter is almost a clinic in what a surfy Fender Jazzmaster through a reverb tank can sound like. Great stuff, not a ho-hum track on the record.

HASH(0xa035dcb4) out of 5 stars Croatian export 6 Nov. 2004

I'm from Croatia and I saw them yesterday(November 5th 2004)on a show in Zagreb performing with a U.S band called The Boss Martians. They(Bambi) were amaizing.Powerful and raw but in the same time skillful an childish. Buy the album and enjoy in the best croatian music export product.
HASH(0xa035de58) out of 5 stars Surf Music is universal 13 Jun. 2016

I love "Dumb Loud Hollow Twang" and this one is almost as good. I'm a sucker for slow soft surf, and the Bambi Molesters do that very well here, especially on "Corazon del loco Jorge", "Ice and Pinewood Trees", and "Chaotica". And the "The Last Ride" is the classic stuff at its best. A couple of these feature vocals, and you'll get some brass on "Malaguena". These Croatians produce surf that is experimental and international at the same time as being solidly in the classic vein. Of course they have beaches in Croatia too, and the Bambi Molesters demonstrate in every way that surf music is universal.
