Format: Audio CD
"Something Came Up" is Mekon's explanation for a long gap between previous album "Relax With Mekon" (2000) and this one (2006). And in the meantime, Mekon's sound has changed- a lot.

Gone are the gentle touches that gave "Relax With Mekon" a slightly Alpinestars, Royksopp-type sound, and the hip-hop touches and big beat of hit "What's Going On?"

This album is much more angry electro-rock. Lovely thick production, heaps of guitars and guitar samples, lots of kick. Guest appearances from Roxanne Shante, Billy Gillespie, Afrika Bambaataa and Marc Almond give a range of vocal flavours. The album falls a bit short in terms of stand-out tracks though.

A decent effort and a very different sound for Mekon but not a classic.
