If you can put up with such clunkers and dismal punctuation as - "I shot my eyes at her", "I grinded her body" and "his chest rose and fell rapidly from sprinting, with his mouth open, he let out hot breaths" then maybe, just maybe, you might get through this but it was too awful for me. I could go on and on listing the gems that made me want to tear my hair out. We were told repeatedly "he embraced me with his arms"? As opposed to what? Embracing you with his feet? Enough already!
If the story was great I might (maybe) have been able to overlook the terrible diction and grammar, but it wasn't. He won't tell her what he does for a living. This is supposed to be a pivotal plot device, despite them having plenty of mutual friends. Hasn't she ever heard of google? He was also obviously into her - coming back from his mysterious "business" trip early so he could spend the last night of her holiday with her, getting caught in the rain he carried her in his arms back to her hotel, his preventing the lift door from closing with his fist so he can hold her one last time, his turning up at the airport to see her off and more. Despite all this she continues to maintain that he's just not that into her. Duh.
I got to 76% percent of the book before I realised I didn't care enough about what he did for a living or if she was ever going to wise up to finish it.
And there's a whole series of these books? Urgh. How? It is un-edited, badly plotted and I cannot recommend it.
I adored the Something Great series and this spin-off is just as special as her other books.
Rachel, after a recent break up, decide to go on holiday with her best friend Stacey and to have some fun!
A beautiful place, amazing food and even better company, Rachel meets a hot surfer, Jax, and his brother, Hendrix.
What starts out as a fun fling becomes so much more when Rachel and Jax can't seem to stay away from each other, but distance and secrets are keeping them apart.
What is Jax hiding? What is Rachel afraid of?
What will happen when Rachel get a new start and Jax's secrets are revealed? Will they find a way to overcome everything that stand between them?
I fell in love with Jax and Rachel. Rachel is such a sweet and caring person. Jax is a very hot, arrongant man, but underneath all that you can see the real man, a caring, loving, tender one, who would do anything to get the woman he wants. The secret..wow..didn't expect it and I love even more how everything turns out, even the heartache, because something this amazing is hard to find and you have to fight for it!
Rachel has just broken up with her long-term, long-distance boyfriend. Seeing her sister and future brother-in-law together has made her realise that her own relationship was lacking. She jets off to Kauai with her bestie, Stacey, for a short break to relax and clear her mind.
The beautiful Jax catches her eye the first day there. He, in turn, very obviously desires her and works hard to win her over - something that he never normally needs to do.
At first, Rachel holds herself back, not wanting to get involved so soon after her break-up, plus Jax lives on the other side of the country and travels a lot for his mysterious job. However, their chemistry is irresistible and they share a passionate few days together. They part as friends, but both know that they are more invested in the other than they’ll admit. They keep in contact via text messages and one meeting in Paris, but an expected encounter breaks Rachel’s heart, as Jax’s secrets come to light. She needs to decide if she’s willing to accept him into her heart and life, once she truly knows who he is.
This was a fab story about instant connection and finding ‘The One’ who has the potential to truly break your heart, or make your life amazing. It had passion, misunderstandings, family values, and what you’re willing to accept to be with the one you love. I loved Rachel and Jax together!
