I understand that Marc had to go on the journey to find himself and learn more about his past but i felt that some parts were really drawn out and could have been cut down a little, at one time i just found myself reading to get to a good part again not because i was enjoying the story.
This book felt a little disjointed because it is set during the last book up to a point, so it felt like back tracking to save Savi when weve already read Savi and Damian’s story and know the outcome of it. Im not sure i like books that rehash over what was in the last book you read in the series i like to move forward with the characters.
That being said i loved the dynamic of Marc and Angelina in there previous book, they are so amazing together, and my heart broke so many times as their relationship faced so many bumps in the road and blows to there connection, at one point i did wonder if they would ever get the relationship back on track and get back together at all. Trust issues between both of them really made them struggle to make the relationship work. Im not sure this book about Angelina and Marc has the same deep intensity and emotions it felt a little thin for me, there first book was so much better.
The interrogation that Marc went through to lay down his past demons was truly intense and heart breaking at times, when he thought he was talking to his dead brother Gino. The process used by the Doms Adam, Damian and Grant to crack open Marc’s memories, showed how close these Marines really are that they would go above and beyond to help a friend really was heart warming.Read more ›
The previous books hinted at cracks opening up in Marc and Angelina's relationship and those cracks are cruelly exposed in this book.
Marc's background is brought into question in this book as he struggles to find out who he really is after Melissa's evil attempt to discredit his childhood memories. As a result Marc distances himself from Angelina and breaks Angelina's heart in doing so. She believes their relationship is over but Marc is still determined to find a way back to both Angelina and his old self.
Marc realises that desperate measures are needed and turns to Adam for his help. Having convinced Adam to support his mission, Marc realises that the only way to come through this is to have Adam take him down an extremely painful and traumatic path in an attempt to find out who he is and to find his lost childhood memories.
This story is hard to read. Seeing this once proud and strong man reduced to a broken mess just to be able to come back stronger is hard to comprehend. Kallypso Masters has produced some heartfelt and memorable storylines in this series and each one has been as good as the last. For me though Luke's story with Cassie is what I've been waiting for.
Angelina cannot give all of herself to someone who hides himself from her. She loves Marc, the BDSM world he brought her into, and the way their bodies respond to one another, but she needs more. Though she destroyed the wolf mask he once wore, only he can remove the mask he dons daily to hide his emotions. In a desperate attempt to break through his defenses and reclaim her connection to the man she loves, she attempts a full frontal assault that sends him into a fast retreat, leaving her nobody's angel once again.
Marc finds that running to the mountains no longer gives him solace but instead leaves him empty and alone. Angelina is the one woman worth the risk of opening his heart. Will he risk everything to become the man she deserves and the man he wants to be?
Great to learn more about Marc and the other Doms - read the whole story in under 24 hours, can't wait for the next one now - sorry Kalli
