I enthused about this album in 1997 when it was first released and 7 years later I still think it is absolutely great!! - and on this edition there is "Sleep instead of Teardrops" - what a bonus!! I predict I shall still be spinning it in another 7 years - still fresh and always love the lyrics. Can't say unreservedly "Go out and buy it" as my other half doesn't rate Del Amitri - misguided soul. I think it's brilliant.

Gonna just tell me how the hell del amitri never became one of the top selling bands of the nineties!!! This is their last album released before their greatest hits and it is pure class! It features only 2 songs from the greatest hits and still portrays the excellent heartfelt quality that is del amitri. Spear headed by the great lyric work of frontman Justin Currie. Please BUY THIS ALBUM!!!!

the belated follow up to the best selling 'Twisted', this is final album of truly original ideas from the head of Justin Currie, though virtually half of the album is written with Iain Harvie and the title track with John McLaughlin, who sadly succumbed to the effects of diabetes.

Not Where It's At has established itself as a compilation favourite, rightly so, with great guitars and witty lyrics; the album follows in light and dark contrast, heavy rocking on the majority of the songs, with a dash of light balladry thrown to add some variety.

The reissue features a couple of tracks originally available first as additional tracks on CD singles, or both on Lousy With Love B-side compilation (Paper Thin is a remix on the Sucker reissue).

If you are unsure which CD to start with Del Amitri, I'd recommend 'Twisted' first, then moving on this CD, then to the earlier CD's (Waking Hours/Change Everything) to hear the roots of the Del Amitri sound (except the self-titled debut: avoid).

This album grows on you like no other I can think of. It just get's better and better the more you hear it. Probably the most underrated band in the World. Justin Currie's voice so soulful but with an undercurrent of a rasp that gives it an edge. The songs are all superby delivered by a band hitting their stride with confidence and the lyrics are anything but "banal" they are very much heartfelt and involve the listener a lot more than most popular bands do. I have had this album since it was released and can honestly say that it is better now than when I heard it for the first time......can't wait for the new one...hurry please !

I love this group I really do, you have that feeling that all their music comes from the heart, true art and not a thrown together band to make some money type thing. 'No family man' is worth the price of this album alone. There really isnt a band like them out there

After hearing "Not where its at" On the car radio i immediately rushed down the town to get this new offering from The boys. "Outstanding". opening with "Not where its at" a great singalong sound that if i had written, it my life would be complete, into the title track, total class, i could listen to it all day. Next up "Wont make it better" cannot be faulted,"What i think she sees" a great sit back with a can and chill track, into "Medicine" a track to blow away the cobwebs, "High Time" rocky sort of ballad thingy, not the best track on the album by far but not bad."Mother natures writing" & "No Family Man" typical Del Amitri Ballads That lack in no way at all. and so it goes on, just buy it and play it in the bath, car, at work or anywhere you use your lugs and you'll soon be panting for more. This is only a personal view but it blow's my skirt up.

I cannot understand why Del Amitri didn't have massive global success, the quality of playing and especially the song writing is so high. This album is one of their best, at times lively and light (Not Where It's At), at other times soft and contemplative (What I Think She Sees, Mother Nature's Writing), and also harsh and hard (Cruel Light Of Day).

As I said before, what sticks out is the quality of the song writing, especially the lyrics. It has struck me many times over all Del Amitri's albums is that here is a seam of quality songs, just waiting to be mined and covered.
