Got this as an Xmas present at the same time as the reissued first album. Yes, its pretty much the same band, and therefore it's not too bad. The song quality varies between pretty good, OK and fairly ordinary. It has it's moments, and it is worth having if you are a fan of the band. Note that there are two versions of this flying around. This one has more tracks on and WAS cheaper as well but, the packaging has very little info on it.

Didn't really grab me like the debut album did! If you want to own a Heavens Edge album, buy the first self titled one.Heavens Edge

HASH(0x8dd83a8c) out of 5 stars I must be in Heaven! 5 Oct. 2000
By B. GOODWIN - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
I bought their first album several years ago. It was one of the best albums I have ever heard. Then, nothing from them for years. About a month ago, I typed in their name and much to my surprise, heres another one. I bought it that day. What a terrific album. These can jam and play excellent ballads. I hope this isn't the last album they put out. They truly no what they are doing. If you want some excellent music, pick this one.

HASH(0x8dd83cb4) out of 5 stars 3.5 stars - hit and miss, but it's still great to hear more Heaven's Edge songs 1 Nov. 2014

Well, it took eight years, but US melodic hard rockers Heaven’s Edge finally delivered a follow-up to their 1990 self-titled debut in 1998. Honestly, I don’t know what the back story is on this one. My guess is it’s mostly older recordings either left over from the first album’s sessions or what they had recorded immediately afterward to shop a follow-up album to the labels. Either way, it’s good to have more Heaven’s Edge tunes to enjoy.

Back in 1990, Heaven’s Edge was pretty close to the Steelheart/Firehouse school of hard rock – more melodic than L.A. sleaze. The songs on Some Other Place, Some Other Time carry that sound forward. They take you right back to those Metal Edge days when this kind of music ruled the airwaves. They have great melodies, catchy hooks and strong, soulful vocals. The production is a bit uneven, so some songs have more polish than others. Even with that, this is still a solid collection of material.

It’s possible that this material could have given Heaven’s Edge a slightly longer shelf life had it been released in 1991 or ‘92. In ’98 though, that ship had sailed, so Some Other Place, Some Other Time seems intended for the band’s fans. If you’re one of them, you’ll want to check this out. If you’re not familiar with the band, but enjoy bands like Warrant, Giant, Firehouse and Winger, you need to hear the Heaven’s Edge debut before looping back around to this album.

Edition Notes: The 1999 reissue of Some Other Place, Some Other Time on the Perris label features new cover artwork and an additional six demo recordings as bonus tracks. It’s a better buy than the original MTM release.
