As director Donovan Winter put it, it s like Alfie with more sex , and here, more is definitely what you get. Anyone seeking intellectual stimulation or pure cinema can retire to the corner on the other side of the room where they can eulogise about Citizen Kane to their heart s content, but in the meantime, we re going to have some fun...and like Peter himself, we ll come back many, many times... Also included is Winter s early 40-minute featurette A Penny For Your Thoughts (1966) which, again set to some of the grooviest tunes of the era, tells us exactly what women talk about when the chaps aren t there...or do they? I was working in London during the era when this movie was made & remember the retro clothing & hairstyles vividly although I hasten to add that I did not emulate the sexual escapades of the leading character who cruises around in a white E type Jaguar with red lips painted on the front: the liner notes say he drove a Triumph but this would not have had the same pulling power! Incidentally the E type was considered the ultimate male, er, "extension" which may account for the choice of car! Our hero dallies with a variety of women effortlessly, although some may find it somewhat unsettling to watch real life twin sisters `frolicking'. Also somewhat disconcerting are what might be interpreted as subliminal messages in the form of brief shots of a butcher hacking into a large carcass of meat but all is explained in the end! Picture quality is variable but a disclaimer before the film starts explains about restored footage. As usual with a Nucleus dvd there are several extras which include a short film with Carol Cleveland who older viewers will recall from the Monty Python TV series.
There is also a file that you can view if you slide the dvd into your computer entitled (Donovan Winters) Memoirs - so all things considered it's a jolly Saturday evening's entertainment for the lads - pizza & lager optional extras!

One of the better sex comedies that was churned out at this time.I was interested in seeing the young "NICOLA PAGETT" who appeared in this film. I was not disappointed when she performed in a love scene in the film and she was surprisingly unfazed in the role that she was asked to play. Perhaps it was another actress that appeared in a sex comedy in her early career, then regreted it later on has her career moved forward and hit greater heights as it did.
